Could never live without meat. I'd die.

p.s. your title should be Omnivore instead of Carnivore. Have yet to meat a human carnivore...

A guy I knew is almost such a person. Couple okf years ago he didn't even eat jam on his bread. He either had fish paste or marmite on his bread.

I was thinking antibiotics.

There was a time when humans ate mostly a plant based diet.. during a large period in the Roman empire when the average age of a human reduced to 27.

Eating meat is more healthier than not eating meat and it aids our evolution. I can understand if you dont want to eat it for religious or personal moral reasons and ure allowed to do whatever you want with your body.

However, a balanced diet is healthier and better for you and by balanced I mean all food groups... than going silly one direction or the other.

I definitely see your point. The problem modern people have is that they eat far too much meat. Steaks every day is too much. We should be eating meat once or twice a week. Because of this massive consumption of meat, we end up with this large-scale factory style meat farming which I have a moral problem with, and therefore choose not to eat it.

Still, I plan my eating relatively well to include the requisite complete proteins and fatty acids etc, so I don't think I am too badly off (except that a miss out on good, goood, sweet bacon). Also haven't noticed any decline in my general wellbeing. If anything, I feel better as vegetarianism reduces the ill effects of my IBS.

meat ftw!

Denny Crane: You would agree, Mr Mayor that by an large, vegetarians are communists?

Mayor George Bostwick: I certainly would not.

Denny Crane: We're at war, Mr Bostwick. Think we can win that war if we suddenly say to our soldiers no more meat? Think a nation of fish-eaters can protect the world you wimp?

Attorney Timothy Simms: Objection?

Denny Crane: Withdrawn. Nothing further.

Mayor George Bostwick: Wimp?

Shirley Schmidt: What the hell are you doing?

Denny Crane: Don't bother with the merits, Shirley. This case, it's all about the judge

i probably only have 1-2 days of non-meat days in a week, otherwise its beef, chicken, fish or ostrich...

...except for breakfast, which is allways meat-free :)

Cows only eat grass.
So cows are made of grass.
Steak is made of cows.
So steak is grass.
So eating steak is just efficient vegetarianism.

Case closed I say.

We lean towards the veggie scale of things, although we have chicken and fish occasionally. I like the term "flexitarian" :D

BTW, the term "white meat" is not clearly defined. According to dear old Wiki:

"The exact definition of white meat varies by time, place, and culture", but I consider "red meat" to imply any mammal flesh and white meat to imply fish and fowl.

I gave up red meat 10 years ago and don't have any serious health issues. I still believe that an omnivore diet needs animal protein, which is why I enjoy eggs and dairy. Just keep it in balance really.

This time last year I used to eat meat each and everyday, now I eat meat once a week or once every two weeks, I'm moving towards being a vegetarian and a vegan soon after that. I just wonder were vegetarians and vegans get their proteins from? What sort of fruits and vegetables have protein?

you say marmite?
Marmite (pronounced [ˈmɑː(r)maɪt]) is the name given to two similar food spreads, a British version produced in the United Kingdom and South Africa and the other in New Zealand. Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing, and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
theres no meat in marmite :D

Theres more to meat than protein.

Such as? :)

Some excellent nutritional info:

http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/tc/healthy-eating-vegetarian-diets-organic-foods

"Unlike animal proteins, plant proteins may not contain all the essential amino acids in the necessary proportions. However, a varied vegetarian diet means a mixture of proteins are consumed, the amino acids in one protein compensating for the deficiencies of another. "

How about meat without the animal

CULTURED MEAT

Cultured meat is meat grown artificially from muscle cells in a lab or factory, instead of being taken from slaughtered animals. It is occasionally discussed in the popular and animal rights press. Despite raising some ethical problems for activists, it deserves support for many reasons, some of which are described here.
