A couple of months back Dial Direct wanted to up my premium to about R1700. This was only for my car, tracker subs and a camera. My then fiance had household and her car separate. Now we have both cars, household and quite a few more specified items, for R1380 through a broker with Santam. Go figure... Tracker subs + device at R320 makes it R1700 for everything. The same I paid for car and camera before.

Make: Jeep
Model: Patriot
Year: 2011
Age: 35
Premium: R575

Insured for retail value @ R207 000. Comprehensive, business use, car rental etc... Excess is R2500.

With Auto and General, I need to see a broker I know. Outsurance actually quoted me around R2400 .

You don't even need to see one, you can just email one.

It's less painful than hours on the phone with these direct people.

Make : BMW
Model : E93 335i M-Sport Auto
Year : 2010
Insured For : R 427 000
Excess : Nil
Age : 37
Premium : R 1008

Make : Audi
Model : A3 Sportback 1.4 TFSI
Year : 2010
Insured For : R 189 000
Excess : Nil
Age : 37
Premium : R 655

What surprises me is the BMW is actually cheaper to insure than Audi if you normalize the premium with respect to insured amount

Don't go direct unless its direct to a broker!

We pay R200 & R380 pm for a R40K car and R100K car with small excess. Also its all bout your risk profile (we are both in our late 30's)
I am in my late 30s and have been hammered with insurance on a cheap junk car. Broker FTW!!

That sucks.. For me haha did you go through a broker? Or just an amazing negotiator? I'm also with OUTsurance.. -_-
Have 2 cars and house insured with them. Went direct. I told them I got cheaper quotes elsewhere and they reduced it.
That price you are paying is crazy. Have you been in accidents before?

Wow some of you okes are getting ripped a new one.

What's your excess? R75 000?

I see quite a few people with Alexander Forbes.

Any of you had to claim from them?
How was your experience when you had to claim?

jazus you guys are paying high insurance.

I am in my 40's, payed R730-00 pm for a R400 K car, no excess.

A bit off topic, I had a claim for lightning damage pc, UPS and router gone. Claim was less than R5000. All went well, they paid promptly after proof from repair company that it's either not repairable or uneconomical to repair.

Problem is, 1 month later the slap me with a, wait for it....................... 43% premium increase. Needless to say, I threw my toys out the cot, contacted my contact and ask him to justify the increase. He could not and my premium was then only adjusted by 13%. I still did not accept it as I'm not even with them a full year.
I'm now back at my original premium. I'm expecting a big increase on anniversary, then I will probably jump ship again.
Just be carefull.

That is standard practice with insurance companies... I'm expecting my premium to go up shortly now that I've had to claim because of someone else's idiocy... I will tell my broker that it's not acceptable, and if he can't get my premium back down to where it was I will leave...

They are good brokers...you cannot claim "from" them. They will pass your claim on to the insurance company.
