Vehicle Insurance,

Ok, so silly question from me then... Is there any special insurer for higher value cars, cars valued at over 1 mil...? Where I live, I see a damn lot of these cars, AMG's, M's and so forth, but always wonder how high their insurance is. I'd expect close to 2k premium with high excess...?

Premium is MUCH, MUCH, more than R2k.

Some insurance guys wanted to quote me R2k for my car and it's just R200k.

Ok, so I know most of the guys that buy these higher value cars insure these things under their business or their household and get a better premium, or they have 20 years good behaviour on their insurance profile... But what about young professionals? These IT guys coming out of university, earning 30-40k and buying an M3 or a C-AMG or something(like mad young people do)... You telling me they gonna pay 3-4k premium for the car...? Really...? :wtf:

If thats what young IT grads earn, I REALLY chose the wrong profession !!

Yes.

Ok, tried hippo.... On my details, I added accurately... BMW X5 M50d.... Best is 2.5k.... Not too bad hey... But still... But earlier mentioned that hippo was a rip off and shouldn't be taken as gospel...

I'm looking to get a 2013 Fiesta ST in August.
I am a 25 year old male, with a drivers licence for 6 years, accident free for 3. (1 fender bender). car will be in a locked garage.

Hippos cheapest is R975 with a R7500 excess and R1200 with a R0 excess.

Does that sound about right?

Stop using Hippo, it's not even worth it as a guideline.

Email a prompt broker and get a real idea.

Your age and that class of car will probably fetch you a high premium unless you've been insured since you were 18 and have never claimed.

So the premiums might be right but you'll still get cheaper from a broker.

Ok I'll do that. Thanks. I just wanted an idea if those figures are in the correct ballpark

Yeah I would imagine you'll be in or around a R1000 with a R2500 excess or so.

But like I said depends on your history.

That sounds cheap to be honest.

So all this talk about going through brokers.. Can anyone recommend one? :P I'm seriously questioning my premium..

You can even try M&F directly.

There are a whole host of them.
