Vertcoin

The Vertcoin core wallet doesn't seem to update at all for me, anyone else?

+5 USD last night, great gravy this coin is a mover and a shaker!

Missed most of the action yesterday as I had to take the kids to an away cricket game. Locked in a fairly decent profit last night though. Then did a stupid thing and bought accidentally right after selling and a now stuck in at around 95k sats. Of course its come right back down to 74kish sats sonce then. Have to wait now...dumbass me.

Is your core wallet synced?
If so, do you see any transactions coming in for your address?
Did you import your address into your wallet or are you using the default address assigned to the wallet?

It's still going to move a lot so don't despair, even if you bought at $5 I believe it could double that in a month.
Also, cricket is very important!

No thats what I meant with updating, it wasn't doing anything, it's fine I switched to the Electrum wallet now, less hassles.

It takes a while for the explorer to update, you might see some of your transactions here first before you see them on the vertcoin explorer: https://bitinfocharts.com/vertcoin/

Personally I prefer to have the vertcoin wallet/core installed on my machine. Initial installation takes a while to download all the blocks/transactions but then you get instant insight and overview of any transactions that happen and your total balance: https://github.com/vertcoin/vertcoin/releases

Let me know if you still struggle or have any questions.

hey king

hope you doing well and mining those vert...
i tried the "local" node and although i got a lot more stable yays im yet to see a payout from them.. where as just 1 hour on yiimp.eu and im paid.
seems a little dodge, there was only one other on the node.. almost as if he was using my gpu power somewhere else.

shrug i dont know hhehehe:D

Nah, it's just a very even playing field mining pool system. It encourages smaller mining rigs and pays out a greater reward the longer you mine. The reward depends on how long you have been mining, the share difficulty, finding blocks etc. So if you saw a payout from a different pool it is most likely that you assisted in solving a block and were close to the share payout time. If you have your own pool that initial reward can take a while because you first need to find a block and then work your way to a share payout which will increase slowly the longer you mine (i.e. don't hop around or just mine vtc when it's hot).

There are both advantages to being in a pool or mining solo, my calcs have found that they payout is pretty much the same (if all variables are the same of course), as long as the pool you are mining from has good latency (> 50 ms). I would recommend if you are nervous about your own pool them use the local one we have setup vtc.splatgrave.com:9171 (use port 9181 if your hashrate will be below 100Mh/s).

Vertcoin are going to drop their block reward from 50 to 25 on the 12th of Dec 2017, so there is a bit of a scramble to mine or buy as much as possible before the reward changes, this is one of the reasons that the value has increased so much, from around $1.5 a month ago to over $4 at times. The coin has a good history and a good future.

Local SA pool if you're a miner: http://vtc.splatgrave.com:9171/

Is it normal for confirmations to take so long?, I am new to VTC and mining on the local pool so just asking.

It is normal. If you have the local wallet synced you will most likely see the confirmations sooner than an online wallet for example. I have the local vertcoin core wallet and my last confirmation happened at 2am, with 12 outstanding over 3 different addresses, so it does take a while.

This explorer is pretty slow:
https://explorer.vertcoin.org/address/

This one is a bit quicker:
https://bitinfocharts.com/vertcoin/

Local vertcoin core wallet is the fastest (in terms of seeing the transactions come through, not confirming them, applies to all mentioned above)

Good to know, thanks for the info.

eish feels good until it hits 100 dollars by feb next year :D

Ill be back. Look at the 1 day candles, there is bound to be a correction. Especially with this hard fork coming

*edit*

This is not sustainable. Wouldn't mind a dip then some lateral movement. Starting to look like a massive PnD

Is there any reason my expected earnings would drop very low even if the Hashrate is still showing correctly?

Depends on the difficulty as well as miners on the pool. Difficulty means longer time to getting a share, more miner on the pool means splitting the share between those miners, BUT more miners means solving more blocks faster, so it evens out in the end really.

The worst thing you can do is watch your summary screen on the pool, make sure you don't have a high DOA % and just leave it to mine, you will get your reward :)

I'm trying to set up the wallet so I can see if I'm mining anything.

I'm just stuck at this screen. "No block source available"

Sorry for crappy pic
