well thats plett for you, they hide in that stupid bush, or behind a little thingy... i think they cought u on the N2 just outside plett in that 60 zone....
 
You allowed to be 10% over the required speed limit,

66 in a 60 zone is fine, 67kmph will get you a ticket.
88 in a 80 zone ok
132 in a 120 zone is ok....

Check your fines.

And that is because by the motoring industry's standards, a car's speedometer is allowed to be 10% out, max. Ideally it'd be 100% accurate, but through the process of mass production and whatnot, little issues slip in and drops the accuracy.
 
i've spoken to one of the camera guys in plett, we were sitting in a 60 zone, and he was measuring the cars, and everyone above 70 got a ticket, everyone below didnt, he said, 60 to 70, u wont get a ticket, if ur doing 71, u'll get a ticket...

than a friend of mine came past doing 102.. i think it was 800 bucks, but am not totally sure

Yeah that's what the law says too. The fastest you can ride there without getting a fine is 70.9 (Fine starts on 71.0). The laser will be set to that.
 
I could make a comment about traffic officers' intelligence and their ability to calculate 10% of a value, but I approve of them fining people, so I won't :p
 
132km/h on the higway that cant be right i got a fine a wile back for doing 131km/h on the highway R100 but never for 129km/h

The lasers that take photos of your car when it goes over the specified limit, it's preset to a speed. The officer only has to aim at the car...

PS... anyone know where i can check the fines from plet online?
 
I feel that here in jozi they should make it an unspoken 140kmph for the max speed on highways. The 120kmph law should still apply but there should be a leeway. It is freaking crazy to drive at 120kmph on the highways here when the road is not very busy.
