very high speed Fine

Those farken government black 4x4's not only drive WWAAAAAAYYYY over the speedlimit, they also drive so close to people, that they basically push them off the road, like tow truck drivers with a licence to speed and cause accidents. The cops drive like nut jobs with their sirens and then turn them off when they have passed you and go pick up their friends up on the side of the road, Minister of transport drives like a complete dck too. Dare I say it AGAIN??

DBL FKN STANDARDS!!!!

I still have a fine for using the emergency lane to skip traffic on an offramp when my car was overheating and had 0 water.. Cop didn't care "Eish you can argue in court", ummm yaaaaaa..... Like I have time to take a week off work on the hope that my case doesn't get postponed to the point that I just give up anyway.. And I doubt they'd believe me, he didn't even look aty the heat gage, in the red, or at the front of my car steaming like a mo fo. R500 for using the emergency lane for an emergency. When I asked what proper procedure was for an overheating car on the highway when the sun was going down and no access to a cellphone the little hamster wheel in his head didn't even attempt to turn. Noway was he getting a bribe.

no I wasn’t in the cells I was just in the charge office, paid bail and I was out all took about 30min to do, the cells were full of foreigners because of the xenophobia going around

No, you won't. Not on a stock CBR1000 at altitude. ;)

It's pretty easy to get close to 300 on a litre bike, say 280, damn difficult to actually touch 300.

Even at the coast with 15% more horsepower, it's not easy to achieve.

He has a R20000 exhaust modification on his bike including something else, can't remember what it is. He's been to and from the 290-299 area several times.

Best he mounts a GPS on the bike to record his actual speed and show you. All riders (and drivers) suffer from 'speed inflation' when regaling their top speeds. A bit like fishing. ;)

Modern superbikes have extremely effective exhaust systems and an exhaust replacement (with a power commander) won't give you the serious HP increase needed to overcome the growing resistance of going faster. The tend to more boost mid-range around the rev ranges where the noise measurements are made.

Even with less than a 5% error (typical), his speedo would have over-read by more than 10Km/h.

5% error? Damn. Where do you get your figures from? Decent cars are accurate to within ~1%. You should take note that this guy is an ex-pro (raced in Europe). He also does not take to saying "I did 300kph" if he has a scooter.

Ouch... well they shouldn't be allowed to fine you more than they fined that radio 'celeb'... If they do, take it to the press :P I recon you'll get R10k

Then do the GPS thing ;) Best way to get real number. (Which is where I get my 'numbers' from, BTW.)

Even a tyre change can have a significant impact on the displayed speed.

@ Hell Fire, you should have been locked in the cell for the night driving at that speed on public roads.

A Magistrate will laugh at your girlfriend story! That is no excuse to drive at that speed. You endangered not only yourself but other road users.

Seriously man, that was stupid on your part. Speeding kills!

Hi there people

I am looking for some info from anyone who has gotten a big speeding fine on the highway when I mean big I mean your speed was well over 200km/h

I would just like to know the cost of your fine and the process u went through in court I got arrested last night for speeding

I'm not going to join everyone in saying good luck but rather say good thing that you were caught and you will hopefully pay enough of a fine, or spend long enough in jail, to deter you from driving like an idiot again! The worse outcome could well have been not only your death but the death of other innocent people on the road!

well, i know of many incidents of people who drive slow and cause major accidents.

Although OP went against the law, he should not be flamed for this. no one here can say they didnt drive over 120.

What?

Dont be ridiculous, he was freakin driving over 200 on the freeway. How do you justify that?

Your logic is insane, you are saying that people who drive slow also cause accidents, so its ok for people to drive fast.

i didnt say its ok, im saying everyone has their moments of doing something against the law. And yes people who drive slow also cause accidents ...

Well if they have their moments against the law, they must be prepared to feel the wrath of the law.

Yeah. Like someone doing 80 in the fast lane. Almost cost me the front side of my car a couple of times now.

I'm sorry but you are so wrong! Please show me your evidence that an accident at 120km/h causes as much damage as one at 200+km/h!! At those speeds you have very little chance of surviving. Or actually worse yet the perpetrator will probably survive due to his fancy car but the poor innocent person he hits in their old car will probably die instantly!

Besides the damage you need to look at the diminished reaction times in avoiding the accident at those speeds. You are trying to justify it too by stating that most of us have travelled at 130... please!!

HE SHOULD BE FLAMED!

I just read the thread today and am surprised nobody flamed him until now.

Really? This Citi Golf should give a Lambo a hiding :D

Hell_Fire, you're probably gonna get a steep fine. A friend of mine was caught doing 211km/h and was fined R10k. You drive a 350z so expect to pay about R20k

Good luck.

What a odd video that was. It was hard to tell just how fast they were going a lot of the time, but that golf did seem to own them all most of the time :)

at what speed do car manufactures do crash tests ?

I cant give you evidence on what you requested because its circumstantial.
It couldbe that driving 120 and hitting someone head on is more detrimental than hitting someone 200 from the rear , or vice versa. Then you take the cars involved etc.

I have no problem with a person driving 300 as long as he is more aware and cautious than a person driving 60.
