Very slow Laptop

Earlier this week I bought a Aspire A315-31. I replaced the hdd with a Adata S511 ssd. It took about 2 hours to install windows and is extremely slow. I suspect it is something to do with a bios setting, but I do not know what.

Any advice?

On a more serious note, do a RAM test!

The memory module is soldered on MB, 4GB is the maximum memory for this model and no slots available.

Slow windows installation is not necessarily indicative of a slow pc, it might have had some trouble reading from the media or something else.
Your memory is a bit on the low side, but i`m using a 2012 core i3 laptop with 2gb memory for work, and it`s working fine, as long as you don`t install unnecessary crap that runs in the background.

A 1.1GHz Celeron with 4GB of RAM is never going to be fast.

Probably an issue with the clone - try a clean install of windows.

Maybe a lightweight linux distro would be more appropriate?

Bios updated to latest as is ssd firmware. Could it be something like secure boot or tpm. It shows in the bios.

Without changing anything in the bios, the SSD should in theory run faster than the HDD because of the better read/write speeds. Definitely strange that it doesn't.
