Gents and Ladies, I am a great fan of the COD and series totally addicted to the online play.
Since the Beta their have been many views of which most described COD WAW to be much better than COD4. Although I was hoping for that, I failed to see the huge advancements everybody was talking about. Very different but definately not advancements. In fact my frustration was the following: Key errors, authentication errors, qport errors, regular disconnect from server while playing, level was reset twice, maps ok but not great, laggy compared to COD4 especially in close combat. regular lag spikes, movements chunky and not fluent as in COD4.
Now don't get me wrong I think WAW is a great game with some serious release pains that have to be resolved, but the general feel in COD4 is so much better at this stage. I play both at at the moment but still tend to enjoy COD4 more as an online game.
Is it just me or are there others feeling the same?

+1

I am an avid COD fan and don't get me wrong, I feel this game is great but it's just not as good as cod4. I played some sp last night, was good fun but cod4 was better.

Also what's up with the creepy music? Feels like I'm playing a horror game. I also noticed it's a lot more gorier and bloodier than the prvious cod's.

So yes I do enjoy it but it can't be compared to cod4.

Well, they used the same graphics engine as COD 4, so no big surprises was expected there.

I finished the game last week and did not experience any of the trouble you had.

Of course, there is always room for improvement.

worth buying just for offline play?

I dont play online, so as a SPS shooter, found it not bad, pretty much the same as COD4.

Levels are a bit short for my liking, much prefered the idea of COD 2 , where each level consisted of attack, and then you had to defend, made the game far bigger and more adventurous, even though there werent that many levels.

I got it yesterday (a friends copy) and was looking forward to installing and playing it.

I can honestly say, that game did not even grab me, I had to actually force myself to play it.

I'm so happy I didn't go and buy it because I promise, I would've played it, and put it on my shelf and never played it again - personally, I'll stick to COD4.

Those who are huge fans of WW2 shooters will probably like this but I didn't (and I actually do like WW2 shooters)

LOL :)

This debate has been going on for a while on the SGS forums.

Multiplayer online:

Most of the people and clans are moving over to COD5 and some still trying to keep the people on COD4 which is amusing!

Single Player:

Game was a bit short but felt the same as COD4, only difference is sound and weapons.

If you're a COD fan COD5 would be awesome as 3 previous version were based on WW2!

@the rabbit, nice first post you got there, i smell a smurf :)

Bravestar, not sure what you meant by "I smell a smurf" but thanks for your oppinion anyway.

To the rest thanks for your oppinions as well.
I guess its a question of some people like steak and some like chicken.

For me the issues with COD5 is just too annoying at this stage and I think I'll stick with COD4 for now.:D

Yeah, tbo I'm also quickly getting over the connecting problems with COD5, such a hassle just to get onto a server and then being kicked for no reason at all puts the icing on the cake..

COD4 is a excellent game, probably one of the best ever made, enjoy!

After playing quite a bit of cod5 online, I would have to side with cod4 as the better game. I dont know what it is but cod4 I played for months whereas im bored of 5 on the second day.

Just goes to show what a massive difference it makes having the other developers handle it huh ........ Bring on COD6 :D

COD 4 is the best ,but requires a great amount of megs online! But still love it!!!

Depends, some ppl love it, some don't....I am in between....I rushed out and bought it and expected more, I am enjoying the SP more than the MP, and I never play SP games....The MP really needs some balancing and tweaks, it is just really badly set I think...The tanks for one get too much, and the dogs (which is the equivalent to a chopper in COD4) are pathetic, really....They last way too long and maul the SH** out of you every 2 seconds....On the other end of the scale, the Air strikes are IMO too weak....I find I hardly ever kill with a AS, but if you get the dogs then prepare to get a nice kill streak.

Overall it is an ok game, I personally feel it fell short, and I prefer COD4.

Don't bother trying to play this online with local adsl. I just got capped and when I tried playing online, it is now unable to retrieve my account information as I need international cap to retrieve the account information which means I cant connect to any servers. Another BIG fail by Tyerarch :/

i would rather blame Telkom on this one. its not Tyerarch's fault that we have crippled internet here :(

I haven't tried MP yet, but SP has definitely failed to impress. I've had tonnes more fun running around in Far Cry 2.

Maybe if we weren't overdosed on WW2 lately, the story would've had more impact. COD4 told a powerful story that was easy to get immersed in, and was awesome because of it. COD5 couldn't do it for me. The russian story arc was pretty good though, but because it was somewhat predictable, it was also robbed of its impact.

It's hard to throw in surprise twists if you're basing something on history.
