BTW i have a friend who has an A24 - his phone was slow but decent before it updated to One UI7 - after the update it has become super slow and to me frustratingly so when trying to do anything on it - it seems like some of these phones need a reset and then clean update to remain at their normal speeds - but i can understand why the A25 is frustrating you so much - for certain tasks even a newly setup A06 is quicker

respectfully ..... you are looking only at single core scores - the iphone is soundly beaten in multicore scores as per your own link - so the number of cores does play a role in the iphone being beaten BUT in the single core scores your point about the number of cores makes absolutely zero sense

Also is that "benchmark" done in 2025, with a phone that has aged for 5 years or whatever it is. The Sheep is really gullible.

I'll try an iPhone when I am rich and can only afford the latest, give or take a year.

i was in the exact same position - i was considering the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ at R10999 and then saw the S24SE at R14449 on a black Friday special (bundled with a set of Buds 3 earbuds which now goes for R4000 at the Samsung shop when i last checked) - given the differences in performance and features i honestly did not regret the "swivel" (i initially was of the mind that i would not ever get a Samsung phone because they were overpriced to my mind) - sometimes it does land up better to go that one step up because the S24SE is as close as you can get to the rest of the S series besides the Ultra which still has a bit extra in the camera's and the S-Pen

you would be able to keep the stronger phone for longer - it gets around 7 generations of guaranteed updates

Takealot currently has the S24 FE on special for R9999 for the 128gb variant, the Poco is better specs wise by far but Samsung does have some nice extra software like Samsung Dex which can be useful depending on use case.

okay - i just went to GSMArena and checked and scratch whatever i said above - performance wise the X7 pro and the S24FE are identical - maybe the AI and Dex are better on the Sammie software wise, but if you don't want to use those then its a moot point and i reckon its not a bad idea sticking to the Poco - its going to be a superfast phone compared to the A25 (as is the S24FE but thats more expensive so nothing wrong with sticking with the cheaper alternative)

have to admit when i am wrong to be fair

This is a good alternative, I'm just not sure if the spec difference is worth the extra.

I looked at the S25FE. Looks like a nice phone. As you said, not sure if the better camera is worth the difference. Photos are secondary to me and only there to take photos of coffee.

Also I really don't like the Samsung OS if it is the same as the A25 OS.

It's definitely worth getting a snapdragon processor if you want to do serious emulation like Switch or winlator (as only snapdragons have decent drivers) otherwise probably not much difference in day to day use.

thats probably a typo and you mean the S24FE - since the S25FE is only being launched in the next two or three months and its going to probably launch at around R16k to R17k ..... just pointing it out 😉

It's a smartphone. Single core performance is much more important in term of responsiveness and longevity.

Traditionally ROM was read only because of its nature, apart from UV erasable and so on. When it became possible to reprogram ROMs it became acceptable to refer to everything that couldn't simply be overwritten and was primarily used for reading as ROM. Modern flash memory is still the same thing where data is erased first before it can be written so it's still referred to as ROM.

It only becomes confusing when some refer to storage as RAM.
