Virgin GPRS online|offline?

VM GPRS was slooooooooow yesterday during the day, and last night it died completely and i had to quit the night session. :confused:
This morning it's running OK again. (don't know for how long) :eek:

It was ok after it returned. But sometime later in the night my airtime ran out. I could not believe what I saw. All my traffic got redirected to http://www.cellc.co.za/wap/gprs/html_redirect.html . And with it I was able to browse the cellc site at full speed after I reached R0.00. But the best of it all is, I posted this using that R0.00 airtime!!

The new page feature was implemented by Cell C. As you know we utilise their infrastructure and as such have been impacted. As per a previous post we have raised a change request in order to get Virgin messaging in place for our customers.

As for the free browsing reported, not certain what the cause is since based on customer reports and testing this is not how the set-up usually or should work.

No free browsing was reported at all. After reaching R0.00 with VM, one is able to reconnect and use about +-20KB till your connection dies again (This was the norm since the beginning with VM as far as I know). 20KB Being useless, but I was albe to browse the cellc website though. It would be nice if we could add the VirginMobile site to it Gerald.

If the "issue" you are referring to is the 20KB browsing one get after reconnecting with a R0.00 balance, then you are understanding me wrong. It's not an issue to me at all. Actually I prefer it like that, even if that 20KB is so small it’s useless to load even a proper website. It helped me allot yesterday after I reached R0.00. I had to fix my computer, and needed the rest of the forum page here on myadsl to complete loading. That mere 20KB saved my PC in other words :D Luckily the ABSA ATM was open.

If you are talking about the site, well then I cannot wait. What about some new fun content on the site that we can enjoy while we send someone off to buy some airtime? ;)
 
This isn't really relevant to this thread, but I didn't think it deserves its own thread: yesterday and moments ago I had trouble sending SMS messages and delivery to Vodacom numbers took ages. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?
 
I had a problem with a sms last week. Sent from VM to Vodacom early in the AM. Was only delivered hours later at about 3PM. Don't know what was up with that.

My guess is that this VM GPRS signal is going to die again like last night about 21h30. :D

At 20h50 my GPRS signal stopped completely. :confused:
The second night in a row that i had to quit my night session on the internet. :eek:

This is really disturbing it seems things are going backward.

Please PM me your info:

VM number; location, and if possible tower ID that you were connecting via. I am really trying to get a stable service, but 3 (or more) nights in a row is very concerning.

It's good to see you care at least. I have not been online the past few nights, so I don't have a clue how the stability of VM was. Wish I could help as this seems to be happening every night these days.

Thank you for your efforts and good luck in finding out What is causing this. :)

How to speed up your surfing:
-Turn off pictures in FF/IE
-Turn on multiple pipelines in FF
-Don't download stuff. ;)
