Virgin GPRS online|offline?

I was setting up a new data card earlier tonight and I felt right a real ass when I could not get the thing to work.

In last ditch attempt I decide to VM to see if there was something wrong with the new SIM or my settings.

To my surprise they actually admitted that the GPRS was down. Reverted to my VC SIM to complete the setup of mail in Outlook.

Then stuck in VM SIM and it worked first time .......... bastards.

If this was a planned outage then I can kill them for the time I wasted fiddling with the settings ..........
 
That's strange, my VM GPRS was online at all the times posted above, although it was a little unstable at around 23:00 last night.
 
My VM was more reliable than my VC this past 3 weeks! I had 1 quick disconnect a few days ago on VM but with VC i had about 3 GPRS offline times...
 
Did anyone have some VM GPRS downtime now? My VM was DEAD from about 18:12 till just about now at 20:27 when my GPRS connected. Anyone?

On my side everything is fine - actually gr8 - I was thinking everybody left VM 'cause my speeds were really good.

D/loaded a 43MB file in about 28 minutes.

Did a speed test now :-

D/L 178kbs (22.25KB)
U/L 50kbs (6.25KB)

Just after I made the Previous post, VM died again. Just now at 23:29 it connected again…I wonder for how long this time.

OK, just as I was about to post This above… dead again (+-8min after 23:29)

My brother suggested roaming on VC…en sal jy nou meer, Dit werk!! But why it works is what is bothering me at the moment.

firefly550, are you by any chance Not roaming on VC?

I tried roaming on VC once and the speed was slower than VM
 
good bye virgin helloooo vodacom.I finally gave up after all these months.I finally bought me vodacom data bundle.Sorry virgin but i never recieved my vrewards,the sms stated it but my airtime never updated back in march,You people tried to prove that i recieved it but still i never got a email to confirm the billing info you promised.
Besides all the disconnects and so very slow speeds during peeks,just made me realize,Vodacom was greedy in the beginning,but now they style and i get just a little faster browsing.

So good bye,time to throw that sim in the bin.

That has also happened to me in the past. But at the moment i hope that R137 != R0.

My problem exactly! Usually when roaming on CellC, my GPRS is OK. But roaming on VC, my GPRS is really slow and unstable - there is a CLEAR difference between the two. But currently I cannot connect to the GPRS network when roaming CellC!!

So I went to the local mall today...some +-10km from my home. I told the guy there at the VM shop about some GPRS problems. "We know about it", ok... I tried connecting to GPRS there to ‘show’ him, roaming on CellC, low and behold - it worked. Just came back home. The same problem still persists here.

Roaming on CellC, When Connecting to GPRS I get "Error: Network Unavailable”.

My Conclusion: The Tower [VILLA VIA-1 / 14117 728-31 A70T-2] or others here in the area have some Mayor problem - aka Broken. So at the moment my only resort is to roam on VC that is really unstable and Slow due to some other unknown reason. :confused: :sick:

What to do, What to do... :rolleyes:

Vodacom are up to their tricks again.
It's probably the worst it's ever been. Not a good time to try them.
 
I PM'd GTVM, and then Yesterday at about 9PM, when i first tried my Tower again....It Worked!!
All is well again in the land of VM (For me anyhow),
