Virgin GPRS online|offline?

My VM GPRS was OK yesterday. This morning I found it dead at about 7am. Called 123. I was informed that it could take up to 4 hours to fix, it returned just after 9:20am about.

Odd that. When I called, they said "It will come back when it comes back", no timescale.

Maybe ID13 is more polite, that's why he/she gets better answers:D

Yes the GPRS network is down. CellC is working on the problem as we run on their network. They told us that it should be up and running again in 4 hours. Thank you. Enjoy your day. Bye.

I removed my responses above.

Yes, Mr LD13 tends not to attack the operators. I handle them politely, so this could be why I get more detailed responses. Or it could be that I just happened to land at an operator that knew what she was doing. But that is generally the case when I call 123. They answer quickly and I get proper answers for my technical problems/questions. Thumbs up for VM’s 123! :)

ld13, they did not happen to tell you whether the network was down due to planned maintenance or unplanned failure, did they?

Hi Everyone,

To answer the questionb of downtime...the difficulties experienced were not planned and the extensive delay in restoring the service was unintentional.

Regards,

Gerald.

It takes about 4 goes to work out their names from the garbled introduction. Always get a name. Sometimes they don't say anything - hoping you will drop the call.
They very rarely know what is happening. If there was a problem 4 hours ago, it is more energy efficient for them to say the problem still exists. Taking the time to recheck is too much effort for a 'wekka'.

Occasionally you get a bright spark. You can then ask those 'above standard seven' level questions you have been saving up. Do VM have a call centre in other countries? I'm thinking perhaps we get routed there on a lucky day.

They def. told me it was PLANNED shutdown. There is always the possibility they were fibbing ....

Hi sky.akash,

Always good to receive constructive clear comments with a clear reference to the problem at hand.

Please let me know if your service has been restored?

Regards,

Gerald.

You've hedged my question. I'll make it clearer ()

Why did they say it was a planned shutdown when it wasn't?

Why did the service go down?

It sounds better if it's planned as opposed to "we don't know what the hell is going on." :p

Anyway I'm taking this opportunity to say I've jumped ship as promised to a VC 1GB bundle which (hopefully  ) will soon be 2GB when rollover is introduced.

I dont know about everyone, but I Declared VM GPRS dead tonight. It was totally dead. For me anyways. GTVM, I dont want to be you at the moment. Not with Skeptik on my tail. Good Luck!

HI Id13,

As you can see, I am hear to attend to attend to any problem, and I am, his insults don't help the situation but I read them nonetheless.

GTVM, I speak the truth - sometimes it hurts. This is the benefit of an anonymous forum - you get it straight!

If you would prefer not to answer my legitimate and relevent questions and prefer only to answer the easy ones, then the guys will draw their own conclusions about your company.

Yea GTVM, Insults never help Any situation. But take into consideration that when one’s GPRS suddenly dies, one tend to overreact and get real angry. Sometimes I also want to attack the nearest VM-thing I see when it happens right when I need it the most. But I don’t. ;)

GPRS is slow at this side tonight, must be the Planned Maintenance / Downtime at VM tonight:
06/06/2007 23:00 – 06:00 07/06/2007 [GPRS will be Affected]

At least we knew about it in advance, Thank you for that GTVM!
