Virgin GPRS online|offline?

My VM was dead this morning at about 9am. But not really dead. Some sites was pingable, others not. None was able to load properly though. :(

It ground to a halt again last night. When I called the operator they didn't know, despite all the previous complaints. It's a deny, deny, deny policy again.

They can only tell you what CELL C tell them. If CELL C doesn't inform them about any problems, then no problems exist

Maybe what to the rest of us are problems is to them normal?

GPRS is extremely extremely slow and erratic right now. A couple of hours ago, while browsing, Opera 9 loaded a page (with intimidating red background) stating that I am no longer allowed to browse as I have run out of airtime. I checked my balance and it still showed a healthy R224. I'm becoming really annoyed with this.

My friend also had this problem a few days ago. It dissapeared after he reset the connection/phone.

I am pissed at the moment and are feeling like ranting. But I'll leave that for another time. This morning at about 11am I connected to VM EDGE :) and set the computer to start pulling a dosen or so websites that I need mirrored. I figured I would be away for a long time and this would take +- 1 hour to finish. I even ran my keep alive pinger to ensure that the connection doesnt drop while the mirrorer puts the files together(aka idle for a few seconds). When I returned I was greeted with a smile from my computer. On getting the second page of site1 it threw a "Communication Error" of some kind, and was still trying to retry. Maybe Microsoft is offline,or the connection dropped? Nope the connection stalled, what seemed like 5 minutes after I left home. Great. The "job" was 4% finished and the incomming connection stalled. WHY I ask you does this happen?

Anyone having some problems with VM, where you kind of have to "help" the pages to load? eg. Some pages only load after you have pressed the refresh button. When I clicked the link to this thread I got a "Server no found" error, It only loaded after I F5's it. :(

LOL, I pressed the "Submit Reply" button, got the "Server no found" error again!

ok,this is not Funny anymore. Pressed it again, got the error again :|
Let me try again...

I had much the same problems. It doesn't appear to have been addressed at all. Who's paying for all the extra data we use with repeated data reloads and resets??

My VM was Offline for like 5 minutes now. Switched to roaming on VC, it worked. Switched roaming to CellC, Dead again. Not even the DNS was responding while I was roaming on CellC. Bam,and it returned. Strange

"Server not found" here and "Server not found" there. Who lost all these servers?! ;)

You can set your connection to use other DNS servers under connection settings somewhere. The only ones I know/remember that I use I.C.E is 4.2.2.2 or 4.2.2.1

I also cannot "log onto" VC 3G towers anymore, :( , but I never really had speeds higher than EDGE on them anyhow. My only problem is, when roaming on their "2G" towers, It connects to GPRS, and never goes to EDGE.

Does Vodacom have EDGE coverage in your area?
