Virgin Mobile - excellent speed and stability

I'm lying in bed browsing the internet with my I-mate Jasjar. I'm getting very good speeds, constant data, no disconnects and no data loss. Virgin did something very good to their data server.

There is defnitely a significant improvement - DEFNITELY - THANKS VM

Hi there guys

Hows your data connections since yesterday?

I don't get any disconnects and my speed is anything between 140kb/s and 230kb/s. I never get lower than 140kb/s since yesterday.

If it stays like this I'll definately be very happy.:D ;) :p

HI,

Can u tell if whether u are using mIRC on VM and does it work.
I am having probs connecting....it jst times out...

Nope, I use Trillian and it works perfectly.

Ok, thanks but i would be greatfull if you could perhaps write some procedures to follow...maybe a check list.

Firstly is there no proxy or anothing port related...
Do i just install Trillian and connect? :o

ok just got IRC to work with xChat and Trillian...
using caladan.shadowfire.org on one of these ports: 21, 25, 53, 110, 443

FYI i am doing this behind a firewall...

2nght I will try again at home....

And see if it is a VM problem, hopefully not.

What about jmirc?

I got jmIRC but it not working.

It says:
"
[10:13] *** connecting to za.shadowfire.org at port 6667

"

And thats all, it just does not go further...i dont know if it's taking long or what but i never something saying ur connected ect.

Maybe my config setting are incorrect or wrong some help would be appreciated.

Regards
B

Can you access the net from other java apps like Opera Mini? What phone are you using?

Iam using a NOKIA 6280, and yes i can browse, send mail etc.
And no my Opera is not working either... :(

Try and see if you can change the net access options for java apps somewhere. And make sure they're using the right wap profile and not an old MTN or Voda one on your phone.

if i am using the wron profile then i guese my internet wont work.
But it does?

Internet on your laptop or on your phone? If its on your laptop/computer then you choose the profile with the dialup string you use. If you mean the internet browser on your phone, my SonyEricsson has different settings for that browser and for java apps, can't remember how the Nokia's work now.

OK, thanks...
got onto IRC on my PC using Trillian (Basic installation)

Cheers
