South African virtual private server price showdown

Virtual private server (VPS) hosting offers users dedicated server space with a reserved amount of resources, and there are several options available to South Africans who wish to launch a website or app that shared hosting or dedicated server isn't suitable for.

With the Rand tanking against the US dollar in recent months, some international providers, like Microsoft Azure, are no longer cost-effective for South Africans as they quote their services in dollars.

You can't run many production workloads on that and for the most part it's simply for testing the capabilities of the platform.
 
eyeballing the prices, I'm assuming that was D series compute on Azure, are the others all uncontended too ?

Softcap means that when reaching the bandwidth limit the throughput is limited to 20mbps

@mylesillidge - just to chime in here and provide some clarity on the R63 package below.
These are "prepackaged configs" similar to what other vps providers provide how ever as you click on the link it takes you to the product configurator which allows you to customize your VPS offering.

By far the best value (and it comes with incredible reliability and service) is offered by Contabo (Contabo.com). I have had 2 windows servers with them for more han 5 years now at arround R230/month for 4 cores 8GB Ram 32TB bandwidth each . They have just been rock solid. vehost have been around for a while. Glad to see that they too provide a build your own VPS option, seems to be catching on
