Vista hangs

Need some help guys ... Got Vista at home, pc starts up giving me the Microsoft Corporation bar but doesn't go any further, any ideas?

Seems i'm not the only person who has problems with Vista. XP is so much better

Can start up in safe mode, tried last known good configuration as well, did a defrag, ran anti-virus and spyware checks. The problem is that it doesn't happen every time I start the pc.

You'll need to boot into Safe Mode and go through event viewer to check any hardware issues. Alternatively just try a repair from the Windows DVD.
