WOW!! Great post! Has anyone else tested that this works?
:L:
Ok, for those who know whats what
When I install the vodafone connect program, some where within doing this, it locks me out of using the wireless net work
When I un-install the vodafone program the wireless then works again
I assume Voda will come up with a fix, but does anyone know how to make the both systems, The usb modem and the built in wireless work together
It is a pain in the arese having to un- install and re-install depending on locations
Thanks
Richard
Hi... Can someone please help me, this is driving me insane!!![]()
I've upgraded to Vista, installed the new Vodafone software (9.1) from their site, but when I run VMC I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error that pops up with the following, "Buffer overrun detected"... "Program:...\Vodafone Mobile Connect\Bin\MobileConnect.exe"...
If I click "Ok" to this error message, it closes VMC down and I can't run the internet. If I leave it alone, it stays in the background, but I can view internet pages. Does anyone know how to fix this??
Also, I don't get usage stats, or upload or download speed indicators, or sms function. Again, if anyone knows the solution to this very irritating problem, please respond...
Thanks,
Marek.
Richard, what version of the dashboard do you use?
The version I am using is 9.1 I believe. it is the latest one on the Vodafone web site
As i have mentioned, I can live wih it at the moment but there must be a fix out there
Thanks
Richard
Acer actually released drivers for their Vista compliant desktops and laptops about 2 weeks ago as I posted in an earlier post.
All in all, the only device I had problems with on my upgrade to Vista was the Huawei card which took me 2-3 weeks to sort out. Part of the problem was the "default/incorrect" vista drivers for the PCMCIA slot. Once Acer released their updated drivers, Vista was immediately able to detect the card properly and load the Huawei drivers which work exceptionally well. As far as software goes I do not have one software package (so far) which does not work on Vista.
I do of course agree with you that anyone wishing to upgrade to vista, first check that all their hardware is compliant. There are a number of places online to run an upgrade advisor tool which scans your system for compliancy and will make recommendations.
Having been a user of Microsoft products myself since DOS version 1.0. I can say that hardware, driver and software support for Vista has been lightning fast compared to any predecessor. I remember upgrades to Win98, WinNT, Windows 2000 and even XP where it would often take several months before you could get certain hardware working again.
The fact that most 3G cards are already supported and now working on Vista is phenomenal, the product was only officially launched to public only 28 days ago. I think Vodacom3G has also been really trying hard to make sure that VMC 9 was released quickly which Vodacom did.
Have you tried to disable the WiFi functionality in the VMC?
I think it's under Setting->Manage Device->Enable WLAN Functionality. Un-tick this box and try again.
Yes, now tried this and it still will not work
I have resorted to un-installing the voda program when at home and re-install when I am at work

Do anyone know if VMC9 works on WinXP? Don't know if this has been asked in this post but don't have the time to go through all 13 pages now...
Tnx
It does however with some of the older cards it will give Dynamic Library errors. With the newer cards it works fine.
