VLC and High Resolution Content Problem

Hi all!

Does anyone else's VLC not play high resolution content properly?

I have the latest version, and yet when I try to play 4k or 8k content (basically anything over 1080p), I get stuttering, and what looks like this: VLC Image.

This is the same scene, played in MPC-HC, which works perfectly: MPC Image.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why one of the most popular media players can't play such content properly?

There are a ton of threads online recommending MPC as an alternative in such instances, but I haven't found a reason as to why the problem exists.

Thanks! :)

I use Pot Player. It's made by the guy that made the original KM Player before selling it. It plays everything and looks much better than vlc.

If you're on any version after 2.2, hardware decoding is on by default.
