Vodacom 3g good for WoW?

On HSDPA, and also contract, You should have a farely decent experience. From what Ive gathered, 300-600ms. However, anything less than HSDPA and you are wasting your time. This means GRPS/EDGE 3G vanilla, all of these will be latent and annoyingly erratic. It will be playable, but to a certain extent only (Iv'e been there, done it and endured the frustration). Don't waste your time unless you have HSDPA in your area. Thats just my 2 cents 
I am currently using Vodacom 3g, but if I had a choice I would get something else in a hearthbeat. Normal gameplay is decent, but the moment you step into a raid or bg the latency becomes almost unplayable, and you also better get used to random disconnects.

If its anything like mtn then you have a 50% chance of enjoying it. with mtn the latency can be from 300 - 3k plus! but lately the latency is pretty awesome. better check vodacoms website for area coverage first

I used to use Vodacom and tbh, worste damn experience, have switched to MTN and it's really awesome, 300-550 lat, whcich in my mind isn't to bad. Stayed in Germany for a couple of months over the last year and the latency were, wait for it, 22 :S. I have played at the beach house and I still get very decent latency there, but it seems to be eratic at times.

if you dont have landline you should go for that, the best to try mtn and vodacom,because some areas the voda towers is overcrowed so then u dc pretty much as you pull the boss,thats why switched to mtn

My ADSL was cut off for 1 evening cause I miss calculated my payment with 81c So I used my cell's 3G and I got around 267ms with Gamemax proxy and could raid. Had a few lag spikes but nothing major.

I have been using MTN 3g for over 2 years, latency always between 400-600 on HSDPA. In january MTN messed up and I kept getting DC every 5-10 minutes and switched to Vodacom HSPDA. Latency seemed to be stable at about 500-700, but during the day only. Once it goes past 19h00 the latency was very unstable between 700-3k. However, past 23h00 it went down again. Recently I tried MTN again, and they sorted out their DC issues. I also use Gamemax proxy, and on MTN HSDPA I get stable connection of about 300-450 during any play time, including Ulduar 25 Raiding. My suggestion, get MTN prepaid, buy a 2 or 3 gig bundle and use that for WoW only. The good thing is, if you run out, buy another Starter pack and buy another 2 gig if needed. The data validity also increased to 60 months now, so you can buy a 5 gig, and whatever you do not use within 30 days, gets carried over for the next 30 days, but you can add data every 30 days, and not 60 days (hope I made sense there)

Not today Vodacom and MTN 3G/HSDPA is runing at between 3k-5k latency with tons of DCs. Probably something up with the systems.

Just to correct this fallacy. The data carries over to the end of the next month. If you load it on the 31st of this month, you will only get 30 days, not 60, so be sure to load it around the 1st of the month to get maximum time to use it up.major typo there, yes, 60 days, but renewable every 30 days. hopefully they resolve the latency issues soon, cause I raid tonight
IBurst vs 3G
Im currently using Iburst with latency between 300 - 700 ms it's ok for pve but would not try pvp on this connection have also used VC3G seems to me to be little less stable specialy if it rains or there are high winds.

I have an MTN contract as well as 2 MTN prepaids. I do not use my contract to play on a bundle. However, I usually load 2 gig on a prepaid, it never lasts me more than 3 weeks, but because I can only purchase a bundle every 30 days, I use my second prepaid MTN to purchase the 2nd 2 gig. I do not once off want to buy a 3 gig or 5 gig (not even sure if 5 gig can be purchased), cause some months I play less, and I do not purchase more than 2 gig as it is a waste. Some might think this is stupid, but it works great for me Currently looking into iburst, but they seem to be unstable in some areas, 2 of my friends have iburst, one might be down, or high latency, the other playing 400 ms. sometimes both are down, but very rarely. Rainy weather also seems to have great impact. The Townhouse Complex I stay in doesn't have Telkom lines from the box outside to the individual units, so ADSL is also unavailable. I have no coverage for Neotel (damn this country sucks!!!). The only option for me is MTN, as Vodacom is too unstable for me.
Now, waiting for the PM's and flaming about dissing the country xD xD

I am not so sure about that, not saying it isn't true, but I haven't hear about it yet. If it is true tho, that would be awesome...

Get prepaid sims for both Vodacom and MTN. Your mileage will vary based on location and current stability of the specific networks. Initially Vodacom was pretty horrendous, while MTN was great up until Nov 2008 . So now it's the complete opposite, Vodacom is great, MTN being unstable [constant connection loss/congestion/slow speeds/bad coverage] etc etc. I believe Vodacom expanded/upgraded towers in my area, while MTN did diddly squat and sat on their arses till congestion made their network unusable. So yea, i'm jumping off the MTN-data ship in September when my contract ends.
As for 3G/HSDPA in general , i did 25-man Black Temple Raids just fine on it [this was before WoTLK] and that's like the 2nd last/most difficult raid of the game at that stage...only Sunwell was next [which was not a connection issue

I have been using 3g, which is wireless for over 2 years now for WoW, I raid Ulduar 25 man 3 times a week with no issues at all, and latency average between 350-500, which is not too bad.
