Vodacom 3G roaming

At the moment our data roaming agreement with VC is only on EDGE.

Cellc please enable this. Especially for those who frequent up country travelling
 
Cellc cannot roam on vodacom 3G

I have read it here on mybroadband about roaming agreement between cellc and vodacom.
It was probably in early Feb that i was able to use vodacom 3G, now or recently it's always edge. What happened to an agreement? I am using cellc.

I was surprised that vc had agreed to allow cellc to roam on 3g. How can vc allow a competition its 3g speed?

Browsing the web is okay with EDGE, downloading videos have to think about other alternatives.

This morning roaming on VC 3g

I don not know what to believe now. Cellc have said they have EDGE agreement with VC. There is a 3g icon, it seems like it is 3g, speed is not 3g at all.
 
I think that Cell C will enable roaming onto Vodacom (for both 2G and 3G) in certain areas, where it makes sense. I was in Bloemhof about 2 weeks ago, and had 3G on my Cell C phone and tablet. However, the Cell C coverage map on their website indicates only 2G coverage in Bloemhof, while Vodacom's coverage map indicated 3G. So either the Cell C coverage map is wrong, or I was roaming on Vodacom.

I'm still not sure how to confirm whether I am on roaming or not, at any given moment. I'd really like to understand in detail how these roaming agreements work, both on paper and the technical aspects - of how calls are handed over, and data connections are set up, and how voice and data packets are routed. Also what to look out for on your phone that will indicate roaming on another network.

Been having full Cell C 3G signal since I ported from Vodacom last October. Have had throughput issues since I ported. 4 x tickets still open with technical desk since Nov '12. 5 Months and still not resolved

Strangest thing happened - at Sun City at the moment and am on 3G roaming on Vodacom with my iPhone 5 - manually network locked to Vodacom and APN set to 'internet'

Works great with good speed - 5mbps+

Wonder if I can roam on Vodacom 3G in Jo'burg too on an iPhone 5?

if you look at their coverage map and select roaming there are 2 shades of red a lighter one and a darker one. I'm assuming the darker one is the areas in which they have 3g roaming with voda, everywhere else (the lighter red) is just edge. And yes if you select all coverage, there is a further darker red for cellcs own 3g
 
Cell C - Vodacom roaming and data

I've been with cell c for over 6 months now and have had constant issues with voice and data. Have logged numerous calls with Cell C but no resolution

I am now forced to roam on Vodacom and all seems fine. No dropped calls etc.

My only issue is my data is connection is very slow on EDGE.

Is it possible to roam on Vodacom and use 3G instead of EDGE?

No. How Cell C works if you use manual network selection and chose Cell C? Having still dropped calls?

Hi DefecteD, Is the problem isolated to a specific area or is it everywhere? Please PM me more details i.e coordinates, Cell C number and contact details. Will escalate further. *DM*
