Vodacom ADSL pricing - better and cheaper

Amazing how they managed to drop prices from R549 to R349 just like that. That's a 57% drop in price...which would have been an extra 57% pure profit if they didn't drop the price. Wonder how high their profit margins are. They could probably sell 10GB for R149 and still make a profit.

You'll still need a line from Telkom for ADSL from Vodacom ;).
 
Noob question alert! Why can't they offer these prices on cell phones, or am I missing something here? :o

Julian Assange (of Wikileaks) once noted in an interview that 90% of people only read the headline of an article. Thus is the public's perception formed.

Vodacom don't care if their prices are far more expensive. They just care that they keep getting headlines out implying their prices are reasonable, creating a false public perception of value. Vodacom's marketing team understands this.

The 'informed', the 10%, are the type of people who find out the truth anyway. Joe Public doesn't bother to check prices, he just walks into a retail store while in the mall one day of a brand that he recognizes with a vague internally positive perception, and that he can associate as being a brand he identifies with.

But, you can fool some of the people some of the time etc. --- eventually, slowly, markets come round. Vodacom's strategy is to move as slowly as the slow market allows, while fooling them and tricking them and deceiving them every step of the way.

VodaScum and all their terminologies, maybe they should stick to Wireless Communication only. Try and perfect that before moving on to other things. Seriously though if mixing the term broadband in with their wireless offerings wasn't confusing enough since as far as my knowledge goes broadband is usually affiliated with fixed line services, Now VodaScum are actually selling Fixed Line Services hence the term ADSL. Speaking of ADSL I can image an average person asking questions such as, "Will I still need to get a Telkom land line since VodaScum is seen as a Telecoms Distributor and not an ISP?"
I mean seriously I get confused sometimes with all the terminologies VodaScum is throwing around and I'm in the IT Industry now just Imagine the poor average guy on the street. Not helping win customers if you ask me, people today don't wanne "sikkel" anymore.
 
If you're stupid enough to sign a 24 month contract for ADSL data then you deserve everything that's coming to you.
 
i severely doubt the competency & honesty of a company that didn't spot the ridiculous nature of their previous pricing model. I also doubt there is any relationship between their pricing and their cost structure

Axxess = R20.00 a GB X 10 = R200.00
Vodacom = 10GB @ R359.00

I think i am going to switch right now. :p
