Data prices have become stagnant. Before 2010 they decreased in double percentages but since then it's been single percentages year on year until the last few years where it stopped and some even increased.

I'll prefer a longer rollover and then buy a cheaper per GB bundle like I do on Cell C. It really is that simple.

It’s quite the opposite. I did not mention Vodacom at all.

I requested proofs since I cannot think of one overseas operator who is not providing uncapped or going towards uncapped.

You never provided any example and you made a condescending answer.

I don’t know what you mean by recent but I’ve had DSL uncapped since 2002 and uncapped mobile since probably around 2009...

Recent being the last 10 years. Fixed uncapped has also been the case since the days of dial-up. It's Telkom that tried to force everyone to use 3GB, because it was enough for everyone.

Not sure if you read that right, it's R150 for 4GB of data per month in Lesotho from Vodacom. And they offer upto 24 GB for R850 a month.

South Africa is R150 for 1GB from Vodacom, and R299-R399 a month for 3 or 5GB respectively.

Actually no. The thing that irks me the most and why I will respond here is because I was employed by a cellular network in the past. I know all the dirty tricks my friend, you would do well to tell the truth on public forums.

By telling the truth instead of defending the lies and taking us for idiots you'd earn some respect

Problem Jannie argued that you got better value for money in recent years which is as good as price reductions if you look at a much early post of mine it links to posts from mybb that compares prices to other networks from 2015 and 2017 mtn reduced prices vodacom did bugger all in that time while mtn reductions went inline with what vodacom was charging. But the also haven't had any reductions in recent times.

Afrihost charges 10cents a 1mb or R100.00 a gig and still makes a profit and pay mtn their dues just points out that both networks are essentially shafting clients without Vaseline. It needs to stop, their is nothing much I can do as a singular consumer, which annoys me even more. Both networks rely on consumer ignorance and their ability to do nothing. So how do you tell their pragmatic CEO to get stuffed and get what consumers deserve. #Datamustfall did absolutely buggerall then annoy. So how do you tell a cellular provider to get bent and cause enough damage to force their hand.

Both mtn and vodacom is pretty much like Dstv or naspers fleece clients as much as possible with little or no regard for tomorrow, they are quite happy to pass blame to every one else except them self.I am tired pointing out network providers are the universe's ultimate lesser lifeform scumbags, because they simply shrug it off and just continue on their merrily way, and god forbid icsa does some thing for the consumer, both mtn and vodacom have their toys and cots ready at a moments notice, should any thing get in their way of fleecing consumers.

Want to force their hands start by cancelling the precious spectrum or by imposing outrages fines for none compliance, I quite like the idea of revoking spectrum. Blegh ! #IhateVodacom
 
well put wizard. The buck ultimately stops with the consumer. When the consumer has finally had enough of the bone up the rear passage without vaseline, maybe then things will change

Unfortunately this will NEVER happen. We are far too complacent and the masses/consumers will generally never take a principled stand and vote with their wallets. If I am a business, and I can sell overpriced **** and people keep buying, there is NO incentive to "do the right thing". We are simply getting what we deserve. The same with our government.

Sadly so... and that's why petrol will soon be R20/litre. Must be lovely being those bastards in the petrochemical field hey... "Hey bro, we can charge what we like, them idiots will still cough"

Not exactly the same.

Half or more of the petrol price goes to the government, the other half follows the exchange rate and petrol price.

They do not make more profit here than elsewhere, unlike the cellphone operators and particularly Vodacom who do.

The petrol price in Europe is significantly higher than here for example.

It is cheaper in the US because they petrol and much less taxes embedded in the price.

Or so says Vodacom because as pointed out repeatedly, I had uncapped for the price of a few Gb here in Europe way before any TV spectrum got released but they refuse to explain what is different in SA.

I would love to see a financial statement of what they make just out of that.
