Vodacom nearing 16 million data users

Vodacom Group customer numbers rose 29.2% to 50.0 million and the group’s service revenue growth has been boosted by performance in key growth areas‚ the company said on Thursday.

Yet they still can't manage to identify that affordable data is what they customers want these days, so they create smart phone packages with 100mb of data?

Data demand in this segment is accelerating‚ with active data customers increasing 152% and data revenue up 150%.

This is why they won't drop data bundle prices prices soon, apart from the odd promo here and there.

By their own admission in the BIS saga most of their users are <100Mb which is sad really because if they priced better they'd increase that a 100 fold.

how do they count their 'users' ? by making tiny bundles available at decent prices, then ensuring each 'user' has 2 or more simcards in order to have a big bundle. Most people I know who use vodacom have at least 2 data cards, so really the 16million is more like 5million if you ask me...

Of course their sales, customer base would increase when you make them pay so much, for ****ty service. Where else is there to run to for the best coverage? MTN charges the same as Vodacom.
