So this weekend I was at our local Vodacom shop to apply for a contract. Now on paper I make a decent enough salary and my statements look good as well, despite all this they only approved me for a TopUp 135 contract? Since I'm really looking for a top tier phone (Iphone 4s / Galaxy II) this contract would be out of the question. It got me wondering though if trying MTN would be any different?

Suggestions? ;/

Our vetting system will assign a portfolio of tariffs that you qualify for by taking your monthly salary and ITC score into consideration. It is a tad difficult commenting not knowing all these details.

ITC score, credit score right? That would make sense, I don't have credit cards and Edgars etc. accounts. Funny though, I can pay my car, rent a house, but can't get a phone...

Ask the store to contact the New Business Referrals desk and ask them to log a call with a credit manager to see if they will up your portfolio on your ID number. If they comply, then the store will have to error the first app and redo the vetting on the system for it to pick up the new portfolio linked to your ID.

This is not a guarentee that they will do it...but tell them to at least ask.

Yeah, it's funny how that works. Not having a credit record can often be worse than having a bad credit record.
