So I did away with contracts and am happily using prepaid until I realise that my curre 1gig is now down to 120MB and I've lost the damn PIN number of the sim card. So I ask Vodacom for clarification of the existing pre-paid bundle recharge rules and where one can recharge online with a credit card.

So helpful is their response. 10 MB WTF

Kindly be advised that the current business rules for Prepaid Data Bundles dictate that you are able to purchase data bundles within the expiry date of the previous bundle provided that the remaining bundle balance of the previous bundle does not exceed 10MB.

Please be advised that your financial service provider may offer the facility for you to recharge your account via internet banking. Kindly refer to them regarding their services offered.

Kind Regards

Yes you can recharge your account online or which ever method you use, but you can ONLY by a new Data on top of an existing Bundle when you have 10MB or less left on your current Data Bundle.

Before it was not like this. Before you had to wait until your current Data Bundle expired or has been used up in order to buy the new Bundle.

Don't quite get what the problem is?

If you've lost the pin how are you going to use the 120M in any case?

The pre-paid recharge rules are as Iam3G said, once you're within the last 10MB of your active bundle you can already buy the next one.

Hi V3G.

I know we've discussed this matter before, but can it really be such a big issue for VC to change it to, say, 100mb?

It's really a pain to sit and watch your balance on V4ME to ensure that it's below 10mb before one can activate the new bundle. :(

I know that some have suggested keeping a nil balance on one's PP SIM card and to wait for VC to disconnect you when your bundle runs out, but that creates other "problems". If you cannot connect, you cannot access internet banking to load your SIM card, nor can you access V4ME to purchase a new bundle online.

What i do is when i reach like my last 30megs i top it up with the Airtime, then i continue to do what i do.

I regularly check the Dashboard to see how much i used, and when i see i reached the 20meg + mark i buy the new bundle even whilst still online.

and bear in mind that the updates take a few hours

I can still use the bundle whether or not I've lost my PIN because the SIM card is stuck into my modem. Not sure how to recharge it though...

Prepaid is so realtime that i loaded airtime, depleted my bundle to 10megs, and loaded the new bundle whilst still connected to the internet.

So its not such a 'big pain' as some people make it out to be.

Maybe use ginggs application and recharge via USSD?

As already indicated, the updates on 4me on pre-paid is real-time.

What would a better threshold point be from where you can buy your next bundle? 50MB?
