Some Numbers
Based on various statements:
Reality is we looked at actual usage and had to decide what % of users we did not want to affect in any way. This came to 98%
and we then looked at their average usage which was just under 100MB/month.
The 2% left chowed nearly half the bandwidth
Vodacom however pointed out that this is only a small portion of their 1.2million BlackBerry user base.
these must be some vaguely realistic numbers -
98% of 1,200,100 = 1,176,000
98% chow 95 MB = 95 * 1176000 = 111,720,000 MB
That is just over more than half the bandwidth, say 55%
There are about 24,000 "abusers" (2% of 1,200,000)
The "abusers" chow 91,407,272 MB
Which equals 3,809 MB on average
The total bandwidth thus is 203,127,272 MB
Which equals 169 MB per user overall
So the 100 MB represents quite a drop in total bandwidth, even if not entirely capped but put on a slow-boat to China connection.
