I had a problem with connecting to the network.
I posted two threads to which Vodacom3g replied.
He requested my particulars.
He phoned me and a little later a colleague of his phoned me as well.
In no time the problem was solved.

A sincere thank you to Vodacom3g, your mate and the other blokes who helped. It is truly appreciated.

:):):)

Good to hear and thanks for sharing. To be expected with a nick like 'Getafix' though :D

After chatting to Getafix, I kinda deduced his poison of choice is Brandy. Was expecting something more exotic with Mistletoe in it.....;)

The actual problem seems to be more related to a known issue with pre-paid users loosing data connectivity when handing over between 2G<->3G. Latest feedback is that a fix is going in on the 30th.

It would be nice if i knew information like this before. Known issues, possible causes, and when fixes will be initiated. v3g, is there any way (besides MyBroadband) to have this mailed to me? Like important things that i need to know.

Like for example the Vodashops getting Daily Bulletin's about changes and stuff to Vodacom's system, but thats only pertaining to them. Say something similar for me? Like that time i had customers coming in, all with exactly the same issues, and i found out by myself (from Advanced Data Support) that it something to do with new activations not being able to make data connections.

Glad you guys finally got (are getting) this sorted. I had this problem early this year already.

Like I said before, v3g is a top guy!

*the king lovingly strokes his E220 modem. :)

Support for 7.2Mbits/s?

hehe...more like 3.6Mbps support I suspect. :D

I'm more than happy with my HSDPA connection at home, if it's gonna be double the speed, I'll be ecstatic. ;)

Same here - thanks V3G :)

Super customer service from Vodacom and I'm a happy chappy :D

Mmmm....this got me thinking...or maybe that you can hack the E220 to support 7.2Mbps....

What is the deal with HSUPD anyway? Last I heard Vodacom was planning to implement it this year and all us lucky techies with E220's is ready for it.

The E220 does not support HSUPA. The 'U' stands for Up-link and refers to a new technology that will substantially increase the up-link speed (to around 1Mb/s).

The current network speed is 1800/384 and with 3.6 will go to 3600/384. Even 7.2 does not imply an increase n the up-link although UPA is probably in the same time frame as 7.2.

So the E220's already support 3600/384.

At least the current and future up-link speed of 384Kb/s is 6 times faster than the 64Kb/s up-link on HSDPA from the other local HSPA provider.....

LOL :D, IMO the only explanation for that, is that MTN found that limiting the uplink speed to 64kbits/s was the easiest way of killing Skype on its network.
