Wow did this get out of hand.
OK so is it spam? or if it has OPT OUT in a message (MMS, SMS, EMAIL, etc) it's not SPAM.
I really need to know.![]()
To an extent I agree with the opinions at the beginning of the thread, that there should be an explicit opt-in.Why are so many people getting pissed off about receiving these so called spam messages? Just relaxThere are far more important things in this world to worry about.
Like any spam they waste time. Why are so many people getting pissed off about receiving these so called spam messages? Just relaxThere are far more important things in this world to worry about.

I often get spam smses from Makro, but it's easier to just delete the smses when they arrive than to spend a whole lot of money making calls to Makro to opt-out [although I know that I did opt-in by ticking a paper-checkbox for sms as preferred form of communication], and AFAIK there is no online form which I can use to opt-out, so I've gone for the next best thing - I just don't bother going all the way to any of the Makro stores anymore [Woodmead is not exactly in my area anyways].
Isn't that great, no wonder vodacom say 99.9% of their userbase is happy with receiveing spam, cause 99.9% of south africans are lazy schmucks
Thanks for that, I do have better things to do than waste time and money in a losing battle trying to opt-out of the "lazy schmucks" box that you've decided to imprison 99.9% of South Africans in...Isn't that great, no wonder vodacom say 99.9% of their userbase is happy with receiveing spam, cause 99.9% of south africans are lazy schmucksTo an extent I agree with the opinions at the beginning of the thread, that there should be an explicit opt-in.

Vodacom has separate network APN settings for MMSes, which means that you would not get charged for receiving an MMS using the de[-]g[/-]fault MMS settings.Dunno if anyone has mentioned this yet but lol wasn't bothered to read through 7 pages of posts....
I noted that vodacom 3g said that it costs nothing to receive these unsolicited mms's but.....
Don't we all pay for the data received by the phone?!?! and if so this is a nice way for vodacom to make a couple extra million or so by sending this crud to every subscriber over and over and charging us for the data received?!

I got another message that just says "Message cannot be displayed here" from +7349.
I presume the spammer Elves are hard at work again this Christmas sending us simpleton sheep-like customers silly MMSs.
They're wasting their time because my Vodacom SIM hasn't been near an MMS capable phone for nearly 5 months. I guess that's another cockup on their part too because it should only go to MMS phones.
