Vodacom Fibre

Vox posted on their facebook account that this is the current planned expansion. Should be finished in the next 6 to 12 weeks

Same here. Placed order late last Thursday.

How long does VC usually take to install?
Placed mine on Tuesday last week, I was told the turnaround time is 2-3 weeks. But we know this is depended on the FNO, will have to wait and see.

@PBCool told me usually around a week.
I haven't had any feedback - was expecting at least a call to schedule the install by today.
I've sent PBCool my ref# at his request this morning but haven't heard back from him yet.

Vodacom are absolutely crap, terrible ISP - avoid them if at all possible.

Yeah, a guy in my area placed an order with them last week.
He posted today that they spent the entire day at his place yesterday trying to do the install - they left without finishing. He is now trying to cancel with VC and go with CI instead.

Have they not given you an update as yet?

It seems wherever they are there is no alternative. Frogfoot just disappeared when they moved in.

No alternative for FNO, there are alternative ISP's on the Vodacom fibre network.

That is a good idea, but since it is Vodacom's network it will still be their technicians who will do the work. CI cannot send technicians to work on Vodacom's network.

Yeah, true. But I think the experience of dealing with VC has just put him off.
He's also having a frustrating time cancelling with them - being sent from pillar to post.

Not getting any joy from Cool Ideas so I tried my luck by calling VC to see if they could shed some light - they can't, my ISP needs to escalate it on my behalf.

@PBCool

So I've just spoken to Vox to get clarity on a few issues.

Their cancellation fee is insane - R2758.00

So a VOX rep joined our neighbourhood WA group and he reckons that this is not correct on Vodacom.
The cancel fee if VC is your FNO is only R1725.00.
The additional R1008.00 only applies if Vumatel is your FNO.

When I called Vox I did mention that VC is my FNO but was given the incorrect info unfortunately.
After the Vox rep pointed this out I called Vox again to confirm and they did then confirm that the extra R1008.00 only applies to Vumatel customers.

So the installation was done yesterday by Vodacom, have not received a router from CI yet. The technician told me the line would be active within 2-3 hours. CI support mention nothing about sending a router and are apparently awaiting Vodacom to do something. Hopefully I will have fibre soon!

They only send it once Vodacom activates your line as that is when billing starts.

Same here.
Not sure why the router is only shipped after your line is activated.
Surely it can be shipped a day before your scheduled installation.

Anyway, luckily Im most probably going to be using my own router.

I called VC this morning and they confirmed that my line was fully activated.
I emailed CI informing them of this and requesting setup deatils.
They replied saying "Your order is still pending configuration on the Vodacom System."
I replied telling them that according to VC my line is fully activated so they must please confirm with them - this was 4 hours ago and havent heard back from them yet.

Don't take what Vodacom says as what is the truth, we have commercials we need to confirm to and that is based on them confirming the order is active.

If we don't follow this we don't get support and it just wastes everyone's time, realistically we will probably receive confirmation on Monday.

If you are happy for billing to start now we can issue you accounts details, but if it doesn't work there isn't much we can do. So let me know.

Can you please confirm if my line is fully activated.
I received an SMS this morning from VC saying my order status has changed to "complete"
I then also received a phone call from the lady at VC who I spoke to on Saturday confirming once again that my line is fully active.

After the SMS I emailed Kerry informing her but did not receive a reply 2 hours later so I called and spoke to Beatrice who said she'll ask the connect department to verify and get back to me - this was 2 hours ago.
