I just received the following SMS:
To view your MMS from 2782*******, please go to http://mms1.vodacom4me.co.za/do/legacy/view
and enter 2782*******
PASSWORD: *****
I tried to visit the site, but just get a page load error.

How can I re-activate MMS on my phone without sending one? I logged into vodacom4me, but I didn't find anything on the Modify Services page.

*111#
look for phone or internet mms settings and redownload :)

The *111# thing didn't work for me when I changed my phone a month ago. I had to send an mms to be able to receive mms messages directly on my phone.

*111#
Device Setup more specifically

Problem is they dont always list your phone so you need to select a compatible one from the list :P

I called 111 and the agent offered to re-send my MMS settings, once I receive them I must enter the PIN 0000 and apply them, then I must switch off my phone for 5 minutes and then manually enter the settings because my Nokia is not Vodafone branded. I received the configuration settings, but the SMS with the manual settings was truncated. Had I been able to do all that, the next step I had to do was send an MMS to my own number at a cost of R0.80.

I don't know why this has become so complicated, when I switched to Vodacom six months ago I just got the settings through *111# and everything just worked.

Regarding the mms1.vodacom4me.co.za website, first I was told that it won't work from a laptop, only a phone, then I was told it will only work after an hour after I have received my MMS settings on my phone and finally I was told mms1.vodacom4me.co.za has been deactivated and I shouldn't have received an SMS advising me to go there.

I have been having the same thing for the last 2 months. Starting to irritate the hell out of me!

Problem solved. I didn't apply the configuration settings sent to my phone, I couldn't apply the manual settings because they were incomplete, and I didn't switch my phone off for five minutes. It must just have been the agent re-sending the configuration settings that fixed it.

I still don't know how to retrieve the MMS that came in earlier though.

How long did you turn it off for?:D

Iv seen the voda tech guys hard at work, atlast the option to select what settings you want without having to search the history of phone models in order to do so! lol

I logged a query on vodacom4me.co.za and received the following reply by SMS:
Dear Customer. To view a picture message on a pc, please log on to http://mms.vodacom4me.co.za/do/legacy/login with the cell number that received the message and password as it is (case sensitive) on sms received. Kind regards, Vodacom Customer Care
The new URL does at least give me a login page, however, once I entered the details and clicked on the 'View my MMS Message' button I was returned to the login page with the fields I had entered blanked out. No error messages were displayed.

I tried this on Firefox and Internet Explorer and received the same results above. Using the browser in my Nokia N95 gave me a 'Web: No gateway reply' error.

When I outside the country, I request for Vodacom to set my MMS to SMS notification, basically to save on cost, as you get billed for MMS retrieval while you are roaming. On their side, the change your handset from being MMS compatible to being a "legacy" one, that can not support MMS. I get the sms, with my login credentials and I am able to retrieve, you can not access the site via your mobile, only your laptop.

So if you still get the sms notification, give the famous 111 a call and request them to change your handset from a legacy to an mms enable handset.

Thanks for the tip, yebocan. So it seems somehow my phone got changed to a "legacy" phone on Vodacom's side.
I'm pretty sure they didn't 'forget'. Your phone is probably not configured.
Did you make it past the thread title?

I received a call from Vodacom Customer Care in response to my query on vodacom4me, some maintenance was done on the MMS website last Thursday and since then people have had trouble logging in. They hope to have it resolved by this Thursday.

my samsung doesn't have the option for mms its either sms or email

is this not the promo MMS you can opt out if you want.

I don't know, I can't view it.

Strangely, if I send a free MMS from vodacom4me.co.za to myself it gets delivered directly to my phone.

I don't believe this, I received the following SMS at 16:30 on 2009/11/03:

And another one today at 11:14.

I tried calling 0820099655 but was told the number is not in use.

This number normally indicates that its an internal SMS MMS
