Vodacom Handset Status [Network Compliance Testing etc]

' ARGH!!!!!!

' How long does THAT process take then? I.E. how long does it usually take to get the ball rolling again once the updates are received.
' And how long does it take to receive said updates on average?

' Just out of curiosity... Are we talking the handset-firmware itself, or supporting network-end software here?

' Ta for the input btw! MUCHO appreciated!!!

Come on dude, these things take time. Be patient.

VC will release when they are good and ready.

' Dude... Been waiting well over a year for that blinkin' handset now!!! And, on top of normal anticipation and a desire to upgrade, my primary handset (P900) was swiped about 3 weeks back (or so) - leaving me completely buggered until I get a PROPER replacement!!!
' Of course, I define proper as: "that which I need which properly allows and enables certain crucial functions and facilities in the most user-friendly and efficient and acceptable manner."
' In other words, I'd rather wait the few days or week or whatever longer to get the device I know will satisfy my wants, needs and desires, than replace it with something that will fall short.

' The P990 is that device.
' Which leaves me in a position in which I find I'm now really rather desperate for the blinking thing to be freely available!!!

' I'm sure you can see why I entered the scream in my previous post. And why this is rather a sticky point, where any and all additional information about the situation / status of this handset will help sooth me significantly. <VBG>

hhmmm... do I know you by any chance? :D

Sounds all too familiar.... ;)

PS> Hopefully when they actually release the phone it will be affordable and not an exorbitant amount of money as in the case of the N80 (which is what my similar experience is gathered from)

' Hehe... I hear ya!!! When I originally bought my P900 I actually went SIM-free purposely and bought it straight-cash - VERY soon after it was released, in other words at a ridiculous price!!! I had intentions at the time of going month-to-month with a contract and had other concerns about not wanting my primary device to be attached to a binding contract and so-on...
' BUUUUT... I had intended on just going with a contract-upgrade and pay the difference this time around when getting the P990 (my contract was up for renewal a while back already and I've been putting it off in anticipation of the release) due to the very fact that I intended on getting it ASAP and the expected pricing so near to official release.

' HOWEVER! While I'm still at a loss for whether I actually walk away from the situation slightly better off or slightly worse off (I suspect the latter!), at least concerns about prices aren't really a major issue for me now. Insurance is covering the replacement (I did insure for the full, heft original amount I spent on the P900) - so really my only concern is for the bleedin' thing to be available and I'll be snapping it up post-haste!
