Vodacom is 4G ready

If all sites have been upgraded to LTE Advance equipment, can some 2100 spectrum from 3G be refarmed to switch on 4G or will that be spreading the spectrum pie a bit thin and just end up degrading all services?

Please stop upgrading your towers to gazillion-G and rather built MORE towers, so we can use your service, Vodacom.

:erm: 99.9% of people can.

Ok. According to your made up stats, that still leaves about 53 000 people in this country without coverage.
And it seems most of us are in the cities, have ample expendable income, but no coverage.
So why may I not ask for additional towers?

While I would much rather support Cell c than Vodacom I had to go with the network that actually works for me where I work and where I live and thats Vodacom atm.

Did your read AstroTurf's response?

So point being ? They don't even have 3G here, so doubt they even have upgraded the tower(s), I am referring 4 towns that doesn't have 3G, one being 20000 or more people, about 40Km south of me and another smaller town with about 12000 people 36Km east of me, North of me is another large town 76KM that the N6 runs through to aliwal north- east london ect.

They all have MTN 3G, and telkom but they are sharing with MTN, neither vodacom or cellc have 3G, in fact Cellc is still stuck on GPRS in most places...

So I am calling BS on their whole network being 4G ready, spectrum or no spectrum....if they "upgraded" they would have been able to have 3G at least, or am understanding it incorrectly.

Uhm, people can't use Vodacom's service?

Most can. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Oh sure, like you CAN use the Internet on the throttled 'uncapped' packages, right? Sure, if you don't move around too much and don't plan on keeping a call on line too long.

Who says they aren't adding towers too?

What is wrong with upgrading the backbone of the network?

Jeez dude, read the article. The towers have been upgraded to support LTE-A. Nowhere does the article mention that all sites are LTE / LTE-A active. What about that don't you understand?

Unfortunately, the switch-on of LTE Advanced across Vodacom’s entire network is held back by a lack of spectrum.

“We’re looking forward to rolling this higher speed technology out as soon as additional spectrum becomes available,” said Delport

Me. I am saying it. Based on the principle of human deduction.

Living in an area, with no coverage for 15+ years, having family members and friends all over the country, in different rural and city ares, whom none have even semi-acceptable Vodacom coverage, and never had, I deduce that Vodacom has stopped adding new towers IN FAVOUR of upgrading their backbone.
