Maybe to be able to say you are technical but not for word processing of any sort!
Macs are overpriced, why not just buy a netbook and have done with, it will happily do everything you want it to.

Macbook (non-PRO) will NOT RUN Final Cut Studio 2. You can still run Final Cut Pro (Final Cut Studio 1)
though.

lol - I've been experimenting with a Acer Aspire One in my camera bag and have to say it's not something I'd want to have to actually produce content with.

Nice for viewing images with but heavy lifting editing is pretty much out of the question.

I run Final Cut Studio 2 fine on a Macbook. Colour might be a bit slow but I haven't used it much. In fact, it might even be faster than FCP 1 when editing HDV.
