I've been trying now for 8 days to get 2 of my Virgin Mobile numbers across to Vodacom, so I can use 3G. Why because they are very nice easy numbers.

I got sms confirmations to both of the numbers stating it's approved and would be complete Friday 11th September, that never happened. I've been into the Vodashop and Voda 4u now 6 times. We've been thru 6 starter packs doing the RICA and port.

Yesterday I get told by the MNP department that there is a technical issue between the shops systems and the MNP department, the problem has existed for over a week, and they have no ETA on getting it fixed.

VodacomData has even tried to assist, but seems like he's been given the run around as well. Eventually in complete frustration I said they must just assign me new numbers but they must be easy and consecutive numbers. Well guess what sorry "we can't do that anymore" sims are numberless and assigned on activation. So I have to wait patiently until who knows when to get my numbers ported.

Basically I'm peeved off, I can't believe in this day and age it will take so long to fix a problem, and also that they have no method of doing this when their system breaks.

This is delaying me considerably, and running around to Vodacom shops has cost me a fortune.

I've even emailed their customer support, MNP department and every other email address I can find, no answers forthcoming from them.

Warwick.
A very upset future customer...

PS. If you are thinking of porting to Vodacom don't their systems cant do it, and if you wish to remain sain then go elsewhere..

Edited: Thanks to ocleroux and VodacomData port finally went thru tonight.

Please can you PM me the numbers concerned? I would like to have a look.

Pm Sent as well...:D ... maybe its the 4 u store..

What he(store) was suppose to do OC was port and RICA at the same time and PST are saying that he is not doing it simultaneous. They can see Rica being done but not the port .

Thank you. I have had a look on my side and according to the system the port in is due to take effect on 15/10/2009. Normally when that is the case it means the port has not yet been activated.

@ VD...I can try and activate it on my side with the sim number supplied by the client. What do you think?

Yup same sim details as per my last PM I've just emailed the details to ocleroux.

I watch and wait for the call to the guilty Vodashop where the owner is forced to sort out the problem he created.

My local Voda Shop, attempted they hit a funny and blamed the RICA system, so instead my last 5 visits were to the local Voda 4U shop. In defense they tried a lot but just couldnt get it sorted.

I think either there is definatly a problem as per what MNP told me, or the Voda 4U and the Voda Shop in Somerset West need some serious training, and possibly a smack for wasting a week of my life. ;)

OK....got the MSISDNless starter pack ref numbers from warwickw....and tried to activate it. The system is telling me that the suscriber is already registered for RICA. The thing is that we have to use the RICA system to activate a Prepaid Port. I have tried to de-register him for RICA, but when entering the cell number is says the subsriber does not exist. VD, is there anyway that Vodacom IT can delete the RICA for both these sims so that we can redo the activation? Or will it help if warwickw simply gets two new prepaid starter packs thats not RICA'd and we redo the activation?

see above. your advice?

I'm pm'd you the original 2 sim numbers maybe they can be used. Otherwise I can go to Pick n Pay and get more.

Checked those too...doing the same thing. Already RICA'd and so does not want to let the activation of the port go through. I think get new packs from P&P and lets give those a shot.

Off the topic a bit:

But how long did the networks know that RICA will come into force?, and did they not prep for it? I had a nightmare with MTN with a new contract, - they could not activate my new sim as of system issues, ....result of the RICA loop being placed in their activation process. Took 3 weeks to resolve,....patience is a virtue - but just curious....better to be pro active then reactive?
