sitting with a new Vodacom contract and no iphone 4.
• On Thursday, 28 October 2010
o I received my new iPhone 4. Contacted Vodacom to activate it and all was fine after that.
• Sunday morning, 31 October 2010
o the phone showed ‘No Service’ (No Signal). I switched the phone off and on and still ‘No Service’. I contacted Vodacom Customer care who asked me to perform certain procedures but still no luck. The lady than requested me to go to the nearest Vodashop for them to assist me. I went to the Vodashop at The Glen Mall and was assisted by a gentleman named Kevin, who insisted that there was nothing wrong with the phone, it must be the micro sim card. I explained that I only had the phone and the sim card for 2 days and does not see how that can be the problem. He insisted that I do a sim swap, charged me for the SIM swap and requested that I leave the phone off for 2 – 24 hours.

o I switched the phone on and same problem persist. ‘No Service'. Emailed Vodacom Customer Care for assistance. No luck. I contacted Vodacom Customer Care (082 1950) and was transferred to the iPhone Help desk. Still no luck, the gentleman requested that i contact Vodacom Direct and request a new phone as the phone was less than 7 days old. I contacted Vodacom Direct and spoke to Collin who requested that i hand the iphone 4 in at any VodaCare outlet. Once the iphone 4 is with VodaCare, they will send me a new iPhone 4. Order number/reference number 10226958. I contacted Vodacare Alberton and the lady informed me that Vodacom Direct must do a ‘KOD’ (collected and deliver). This means that they must collect the phone from me and send me a new one.

o After several calls, holding on for 35 minutes average, i managed to speak to Jaqueline, explained my story, insisted that i go back to Vodacare and ‘tell’ them to take the phone in. Also informed that her superior, Benita and was going to call me to resolve the matter. No call received from anyone at Vodacom. Lodged a complaint on hellopeter.com

o After several call, holding on for 45 minutes average, i managed to speak to Thuli who transferred me back to the IVR held on for 28 minutes, go through to Tumi whom i asked not to transfer me but rather get Collin to come to the phone, no luck went back to IVR and by luck got hold of Collin, by now i was fuming but remained calm and again Collin requested that i hand the phone to a Vodacare outlet. Drove to Vodacare at Vodaworld, handed the phone in as request.
