I have never received such horrible service from any company before. I really regret opening a contract with Vodacom and would advise anyone to think twice before doing the same.
After waiting for a week for a sim-only contract to be verified and activated, I had to make contact with the Canal Walk store only to hear they wanted further documentation. I then phoned again a week later and found out the contract had been ready for me to sign, no one bothered to let me know.
I opened a contract with Vodacom in order for me to link my iPhone with my Apple Watch Series 6 cellular through an e-sim. After getting my sim card and waiting 48 hours for any service, I had to find out through the App that they had given me the incorrect sim card.
When I finally got the right sim card on Monday afternoon (26 April 2021), I carefully followed the instructions on Vodacom’s website to link my Apple Watch with the cellular. I had no luck and phoned Vodacom’s Customer Care, only to be told that I required an iPhone 11 or 12, which does not correspond at all to the information on their website, which states that you need an iPhone 6s or later.
I attempted to relink this several times and on Friday 30 April 2021, I decided to go to the Canal Walk store to cancel my contract. I was then told that there was no “cool-off” period and that I could not cancel my contract. I then asked to speak to a technician, who confirmed that I did not require an iPhone 11 or 12, but stated that she had no idea how to assist me. After an hour at the Vodacom store, they simply said that I should go ask for help at the iStore. After seeking help from the iStore at Canal Walk, I was left with no answers and everything pointing at Vodacom being all over the place with the information and their staff obviously having no clue what they are doing. The iStore confirmed that I did not require an iPhone 11 or 12 and that the issue had to do with Vodacom and their network.
I attempted to contact Vodacom’s customer care again and tried to explain this to them, only to have them not listen and keep telling me that I couldn’t do this with my iPhone 8 and that I had to go back to the iStore.
I am now sitting with a Apple Watch that I cannot fully utilize, a 24-month contract that I took out specifically for the watch, and no more information than I did a whole week later, following many calls and store visits.
I am disgusted with the terrible service and ill-informed, incompetent staff that this company has.
