Is Vodacom 3G still having issues with DNS???
Yesterday in the morning everything was fine no problems. I tried again from about 15:00 till 19:30 ... i could connect no problem but it would not resolve website addresses!!! i could do a nslookup on the name no problem and surf with the ipaddress. This has been a constant issue ever since i got this 3G card.

Passed it on and the guys said they'll contact you.

Thanks v3g

Had a bloke contact me via e-mail - had me do a firmware update and suggested using the longer cable for my modem.

I'll try and give it a run tonight - although to be completely honest I don't think that's the fundamental issue. If there are any other problems I'll e-mail him directly.

Could you keep me up to date on what's happening with the Panorama tower though?

I'm getting connection issues. I'm using a Vodafone K3520 i'm in the Loevenstein/Plattekloof area in Cape Town. VMC says I have a HSDPA connection with 3 bars but then periodically it will drop to 3g connection (again 3 bars) and all data transfer seems to grind to a halt, i cant surf pages etc.

got any ideas?

I'm having extremely slow speeds on HSDPA since 12pm this afternoon, 3G/HSDPA has slowed down to GPRS speeds (and worse). Anyone else in Pretoria area experiencing this???

SC is the right guy, so just keep him up to date and we should come to some resolution.

The Panorama problem is now well identified but still not resolved. Guys are still attending. They did a temporary fix in today and I see my throughput is much better.

I almost thought the problem was fixed ... was online for about an hour and 15 minutes before the network dropped again.

The irony of it all was that the network fell over just as I was messaging my mate that the problem seemed fixed.

Just goes to show ...

Latest speedtest results (dl/ul/ping) - 754 / 108 / 345

The ping is pretty much the same as always - but the dl/ul speeds are shockingly below what I'm used to.

Problem is still continuing, full HSDPA speed for a short time, then it drops down again to almost GPRS speeds and then back again, very erratic. V3G, any news on this ????

I am having major problems in Durbanville (Uitkamp area, in D'urbanvale). I cannot even connect anymore. I get the "PPP Protocol Link Terminated" Message. This is the same problem I used to get about 2 years ago when I started on 3G. Could it be that the cell tower is overloaded? I also often get "connection errors" when trying to make calls or people phone me and it goes straight to voicemail.

Pre-paid or contract?

Greg, nice to see i'm not the only one in the Durbaville area with issues.

V3G, I posted under the Gamers sticky.

Cheers,

Jean

I see they've got something planned for tomorrow morning on your site. Will keep you posted.

Think they're going to dynamite the tower.....No tower, no problem. ;)

Hah ... good idea that ... ask them if I can come help. Or at least watch.

I just got a +2000 kb/s on speedtest ... which is awesome ... although my upload speed is just over 100 ... which is not so awesome.

3G - What's that?

Limpopo, It's been a week now that there are no 3G-connection in the Burgersfort, Limpopo area. Gprs is so slow that entering this site was a pure miracle!!!! Can anyone tell me what happened to Vodacom in this area?

OK, send me the details as per my sig.

I already logged an issue via customer care... I'll see what happens.

Last night, I connected 1st time and the link remained active for 15 minutes (then I disconnected). Maybe the problem is solved?

My problem is still ongoing ... network still goes to bed before I do.

I was doing a download last night - got my first interrupt when it was 75% done and had to restart. Went along for an hour then dropped to 2G. Well ... it finished at least.

But it took me 2 hours to download a 71mb file ... when was the last time I had to wait 2 hours for anything that wasn't over 200mb :'(

Don't you use a download manager?
