well everything seems to be working fine today. at last. and just to point something out to v3g in most modern day terminology if a service is not working it is considered to be "down". the server is down. the internet is down. the aircon is down. its up to you guys to figure out exactly what is down and how it is down. not us.

100%

But knowing the typical forumite, they want to know what's actually going on, so I tell them. And they don't mind helping, so I ask them.

Called a partnership. ;)

But it's always VC's responsibility.

You are definitely mistaken in your assumptions:p According to the Telkom price list 59.4c is the minimum charge per local call and not the cost per minute. Also is clearly states:

The cost per second (standard time incl VAT) is 0.634c which is 38.04c per minute.
The cost per second (callmore time incl VAT) is 0.284c which is 17.04c per minute.

You were using dial up during this long weekend so you will pay the rate of 17.04c per minute (billed per second).

Clearer??:D

ABSOLUTELY. My apologies I got it now!
The week-end is Ok. (17.04c/m). Monday normal price (38.04c/m).
OK so VC won't be out of pocket that much. :p :)

Exactly and then ask the right questions.

I did exactly that to 155 & was asked to please do the following & I humbly submitted.

So far so good.

What are the chances that it is going to happen again ?????

I believe (need to confirm 100%), that everyone trying to connect (the above problem) created a queue and your bundle activation also ended up in this same queue. In your case although the bundle was bought and reflected on the purchase system, the same 'authentication system' did not know about it yet (due to the queue) and therefore did not use it.

We'll build a check for this into the monitoring systems.
Fortunately I only had a little over R1 worth of airtime after purchasing the bundle, it could have been very costly. There's a huge difference between using a 1GB bundle at R0.28 per MB and R2.00 per MB out of bundle!
So we're back to the question if you need R1 and/or an active bundle?

Maybe you can destroy the rest of the R balance and take it below R1 and see what happens? Call a long lost friend overseas, should work well. :)
As requested, I used up the remaining airtime balance, *111# reports:
Your current balance is R0.00.
I was able to connect and now am using my bundle. The systems seem to be working; a minimum airtime balance of R1.00 or a data bundle is required to connect.

Cool, tx! That's the way I had it originally but got horribly confused over the weekend.

PS. What's the speed like on the E220?

PS. What's the speed like on the E220?
I see what you meant, it does download slightly quicker than my E620; 1787kbps vs 1580kbps. Is there anything you can do, provisionally, so that I can do some more speed tests before I have to give it back?

Hi hi

Is there any reason why I should only be able to get a GPRS signal on my e220? Haven't seen this before in over 4 months. No blue light makes me a sad panda :(

Might my tower have died? Have tried the WCDMA Only setting - no joy there.

Hope this doesn't last too long.

Have you reported it to 155?

I have not...
I find the usual course of events is to waste my time with 155 while they cover the basics and then give me a reference number and be done with me. Then I come here and get some actually useful and relevent info from the likes of you ;)

You only have your prompt responses and track record for people not calling 155 first, V3G!

Nevertheless, I'll see how things look in the morning, and tackle 155 if I have to - sleepy time soon.

Cheers

Aaaaaand the blue light of glory is back! I knew you could do it! :P

Partnership, most definitely is. Might not seem like it all the time. :p
It is always better to get feedback pos or neg. The secret is to Filter out what the forumite is really trying to say.

VC's responsibilty, don't understand ???

True, but it is the feedback that is given when questions are asked. I don't go to the doctor and say I am sick but dont tell him where etc. He can only be as good as the information and feedback I give him obviously based on the questions he asks me.

Feedback

The part I dislike the most is when people seek help & complain on the Forum and then dont give feedback when their problems are resolved.

Seriously, do you have any feedback on the problems in Pretoria East?

And I'm not referring to the Tshwane waste removal issue, that appears to be back on track ;-)

Are you still battling?

I've not received more complaints from the area since the weekend.
Yes, last night was a dog again (no pun intended) ...

My only saving grace is the good resumption of downloads in Firefox and GetRight.

A disconnect/reconnect worked for most part, but I also had to remove the E220 at times ("not configured correctly" message upon reconnect).

Anyways, I'm still not able to stay connected for more than 15-30 minutes without experiencing some problem or the other.
