Network issues?

Hey, I've been unable to make use of my phone since about last night at 12.30. I live in Northwold and voice and data seem to constantly go up and down. Anyone else have similar issues?

So much for smsing my date to thank her for last night :S :P

(And according to vodacom my account is not locked).

In Soweto

I'm able to make and receive calls without any hussles.

Data seam to be hayward, only getting GPRS used to get 3G according to the Voda Dashboard

Thanks, will escalate.

Don't think it's the same problem as we saw in Pta. although the symptoms are similar.

Which modems are these?

Actually, just remember; there was a problem identified earlier today that was resolved but could have affected people around Midrand. This was at IP level (as opposed to datalink), so your symptoms tally.

Still seeing it?

I'm using the Option Globetrotter 3G+ and the other guy (only other guy) in the building who experiences the exact same problem is using the Huawei E620.

Haven't used the net much over the weekend, will check in the week and let you know if its still present.

thanks for following up

Sadly that saturated link, would be a Telkodemonopolies link, and both Vodacom and MTN have grief with Telkodemonopolies taking too long to upgrade the capacity of existing links as well as taking too long to install new links - like up to 12 months too long, there are huge backlogs of links waiting for installation & upgrade, v3g might be able to tell you just how many links Vodacom is waiting for in Telkodemonopolies' backlog, MTN was recently quoted as waiting for ~2000 links...

If you triple the MTN number, you'll still be under........

So MTN has a considerably smaller weener compared to Vodacom? :D

Seems so, or at least that's the impression created by them not wanting to publish any numbers on the size of the network, number of base stations, data cards, users, etc.

Some industry commentators have put the VC HSDPA network as at least triple the MTN HSDPA network. But no-one (outside of MTN, obviously) seems to know.

here in george, last night and this morning, 3 simcards only one would work, my usb hsdpa flashes green, and i get 619 errors, after numerous reconnects the light turns blue and i get a connection.. ? any ideas

Today I am again having problems where router is saying that it is connected, but have no throughput. Pages and email are timing-out. It seems to be getting worse, and I am now having to re-boot the router continuously

Is it worth reporting a fault to 155? Is there anyone else having these problems today?

Yup have the exact same problem today with my router all the lights are on but nobody home Kinda starting to get really irritated with this service it is more off than on ?? What Gives Now ?????????/

Same hassle here in Edenvale.

Latency is shocking - but that seems to be the norm for the last month or two..

Last night I was partying with the 619's again, just upped and died around 9pm.

Managed to connect on the 10th try this morning ......... it takes a long time to try and connect 10x.

Have had to reconnect at least 5x today and the bandwidth has the consistency and speed of frozen treacle.

Guess who is VC'c favourite wrestler? Clue: they named their most prolific error after his finishing move.

Been hell here today. Couldn't connect at all on VC. On MTN with 0% signal strength (HMP) or -109dBm (GT) I got ~ 50KB/s [kilobytes] downloading ~9MB of emails.
