Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

GPRS seems to be down again for both me (in Garsfontein) and my girl (in Centurion).

What is Vodacom doing the past 2 days at early evening that is breaking their GPRS?

It seems I'm only having hassles connecting to VC HSDPA / 3G in the evenings.

I'm right on the edge between Hatfield & Arcadia :)

12:10pm connection dropped from hsdpa to gprs signal, then I lost the connection, reconnected, couldn't find 3g signal.... disconnected.....couldn't connect for 5 min. And now I'm at least online again.

Looks like some towers still aren't fixed. Can you guys maybe let us know what towers in what locations "should" be fixed by now? Just want to know how far along this crap is. :(

Last night I was partying with the 619's again, just upped and died around 9pm.

Managed to connect on the 10th try this morning ......... it takes a long time to try and connect 10x.

Have had to reconnect at least 5x today and the bandwidth has the consistency and speed of frozen treacle.

SNAP ????
@v3g Looks like a Total breakdown in the Centurion. Do you know what went wrong.
Thanks.
:cool:

I was having intermittent throughput problems last night and rather than the normal blank pages I kept getting "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" when trying to access sites.

A disconnect and reconnect seemed to sort things out, but I did hit a few 619 errors before getting connected again. (PPDB).

// No Kb/s try bps

Speed = 1542 kbps dl
Speed = 265 kbps ul

// Still suffering from the need to refresh every second page on international sites

// i get some weird ISP page ?!?!??!
// The latency only tends to effect International sites

PPDB.

Also had trouble in connecting last night when using a contract (Top Up) sim (paying the R2 / MB out of bundle rate)
