Vodacom reduces international data prices

Vodacom has reduced its out-of-bundle roaming data rates on partner networks worldwide by up to 88%.

The changes mean rates will now vary between 49 cents and R5.00 when travelling to over 156 countries across 656 partner networks.

"With our discounted rates, Vodacom customers can now securely and conveniently access their mobile banking application, connect with loved ones, and share their travel moments as and when they happen, and much more, without worrying about roaming charges," Vodacom stated.

Yup and you'll not get shafted to receive a call.

When you go overseas, get a local SIM, and save, bugger roaming. When you roaming you are volanteering to be shafted.
What I normally do and found to work really well.
Is I take a Wi-Fi 4G dongle. But a local sim from the data only networks etc then you always have internet with out losing access to your normal number if needed.

wait we can no longer call vodacon, the oob shark. ? Wonder what the new vodacon mascot is now ?
Not so soon. Remember those 300 and 400GB Black Friday deals? Lots of people don't know that they should disable going out of bundle.

It's coming. And its going to be MASSIVE amounts

The fact that these rates are still high is just ridiculous in this day and age. As per all the posts above, most people dont even roam - they have ways to get around this.

Which begs the question, if they lowered these rates to something more favourable, they might even make some proper money with people paying and not using all these workarounds.

They are only happy when they shafting their clients ....

If you have an *iPhone, get the Truphone app, load an eSim, load data onto eSim and enable VoWiFi and Vodacom nano sim will use the Truphone sim as the WiFi. So Vodacom calls to home are part of your normal minutes and of course you have WhatsApp and everything also as usual using the Truphone data.

The VoWiFi thing only works with iPhone btw.
