Vodacom robbery

Erm.. He sent in a new phone for repair and received a used/refurbished unit in exchange... he is out of pocket as his new unit was worth more than the refurbished one.

Would you say the same if he handed in a phone with scratches on it...then got a refurb phone back that looks like a brand new unit and in mint condition?

Anyway....I can see the direction that this is going. I have given my input. @ samr1wp, I hope the unit given for the repair resolves the problem that the faulty unit was sent in for.

Frankly this is a red herring. A consumer should be informed of, and Vodacom should comply with, his choice of repair, replacement or refund.

You need to complete the "Customer reported fault while booking in device" form at the Vodacare as soon as possible. They then escalate it to JHB, which takes it up with Blackberry as they are the supplier. Make sure you fill in your preferred outcome on the form, ie. New sealed unit. Hope you come right.

vaseline is usually needed with these cases. and usually applied to the customer. looks like SO. dont expect any fireworks.

Robbery?.....I'm not a huge Vcom fan, in fact I hate them. So when my 9900 passed away three weeks ago, walking through the doors of a vodacare outlet gave me nausea.

Anyway, I was phoned 8 days after that to come and collect a "refurbished" unit. Nausea back again, coupled with a anxiety attack or two.

But to my surprise guys, I have to give them some credit. The unit returned I received, to my knowledge looks brand spanking new. My 9900 has seen some bruises over it's short life span, lots of scratches, dents etc...

Robbery, don't think you can call it that, if you receive something in a better condition then what you returned it in.

Thanks Vcom

a 2 month old phone that has no scratches and what comes back is a "lucky packet" phone ...you never know whats wrong with it

i sent my 9800 torch in and got a refurbished one ..i was thrilled and can say thank you

but when a 2 month old phone goes in you expect some sort of good out of it

not something that might perform well or one that dies in 2 weeks

Some customers may benefit if their phone is exchanged for a refurb. However that does not mean it is fair to give refurbs to those customers who are handing in brand new, unscratched phones.
