Vodacom Samsung S3 Update

Took my S3 to samsung store in brooklyn mall, Pretoria, updated to 4.3 in 15min.

Now to back up my stuff, wipe it and start again because the phone was becoming so slow. Hopefully it will be much faster going forward.
 
I would love to know how people are getting this 4.3 update from Vodadom. Surely there must be something OTA by now?

Slowest roll out ever! Add to the fact that this previous "flagship" phone has literally seen one version update in the almost 2 years I have had it!

This is shaping up to be as bad as my old Sony Xperia X10! I am more and more reluctant to recommend Samsung as a brand to anyone. For the price that we pay, better service is expected.

I9300 or I9305?
 
Still haven't received the update yet. I have the I9300
 
Took my s3 to Samsung and they said at first they could upgrade it, then the guy says oh no, Vodacom must've removed the update from their system. So I'm still on 4.1.2.

Just flash the latest S3 firmware from sammobile.com. Or better yet, root your phone and put custom firmware on. I've had KitKat on my S3 for ages.

S3 Vodacom software not available on Sammobile yet...

About ready to root and start slapping on custom ROMS.

Second Android phone (flagship model) and crappy updates for both. Sony to blame on the first one, Vodacon to blame for the second.

The good news is, as soon as I root my phone, you guys will start getting your official Vodacon updates!

Yeah also considered just getting it from Samobile.. but didn't see it there and I'm a bit scared of doing my own thing with the software.
 
I just received the update. Does anyone have the problems that have been plagued by 4.3?

You da man!!! :p It's 473MB and for me reporting as a 2hr 25min download.

I believe that some people had issues but not sure if that was the exception or the rule. I'm going to take a chance regardless.

That's what I got. Just backing up my phone now. Will download shortly. After it has been flashed do you suggest I do factory reset?
 
Got mine last night as well. So far running well, think the reason it took so long is because Vodacom wanted to add crap apps like Vlive! and "discover" and Vodacom apps. Not to mention the dumb telmap Navigator. That thing doesn't even work. I think Vodacom should know they offer crap software support.

Other things that I thought we should've gotten is KNOX, I don't know if it's hidden or we didn't get it. Also the light effect instead of the ripple effect when unlocking, that seems to be left out.

But the phone seems quite snappy, I like it so far.

Completely agree. Those voda apps are ***. Wish I could uninstall them without rooting. Let's see how long the battery and wifi last now. Apparently those were the issues.

I did just to be sure i get the best performance. Just backup all your stuff first because the device will get wiped clean.

Where do u go to do a factory reset :-|

Day one and the update seems decent. Battery isn't too bad.
 
This morning my S3 struggled to get the screen on, don't know if you guys see the stutter when waking the phone up? I struggled for a few minutes getting it on.

Also turned of the multiple widgets on lock screen in the hope that the screen unlock quicker (i mean wake up to lock screen).
 
Also got the update notice this morning...

Gonna download it this weekend - anyone else notice any issues?
