Yeah that could be a problem,Cell C had them for under R200 a month on a contract a while back if you opt to go that route.
But R200 a month ties you down in a contract so it might not be appealing to you.Maybe see if you can get one second hand on Carbonite or gumtree etc...

Its a pity we don't get cheap good tabs like the Tesco Hudl 2 here in SA,it costs around 120 pounds in the UK and comes with an 8 inch full hd screen and decent cpu etc....would have loved to buy one of these for my son.

I understand there is a market in South Africa for cheap Android devices because the majority of the population is price sensitive. However, it is so true that you get what you pay for. The cheapies are good for people on a tight budget but if you can afford it avoid the cheapies and go for the higher end devices. I learned my lesson.
 
The Vodacom agent in our shopping center has this tab on a special this month-end for R39 for 500 mb . Two year contract. Normal price R59.

Ya, but there are also good value for money deals out there that lots of people don't know much about cos the networks and major retailers only stick to certain brands.
Like how many people know that you can buy a Mecer 9.7" tablet with a quad core CPU and 2GB RAM for R2500-ish

ok, it's not really "cheap" compared to the lowest end, but if they can make a monster like that for R2500, one would expect the lower end to be alot cheaper.

Nice screen resolution at that price point,a great deal for anybody looking for a tablet.

it will be able to make calls via a software update. Im dealing with Vodacom, so will try and find out when this update will be available. According to them, its not available, but according to various comments on the MyBB article, the update is available.
 
I got this tablet for my wife about two weeks ago. As soon as we turned it on, there was a message that an update was ready of about 35Mb. There is definitely a dialer app on the tablet now. Unfortunately I don't know if it was always there or appeared after the update.

Overall its a nifty little device. The camera is obviously not great at all and the screen is fine if you're looking at it head on, towards the edges not so good. It seems to run the common apps with no issues or noticeable lag - e.g facebook, mx player, Adobe Reader. It also has FM radio which some other tablets don't have. The build quality is decent as well. It feels solid, no creaking, etc.

The back has a matte finish so its unlikely that it will slip from your fingers and it appears to be light enough to use for an extended period. It actually feels lighter in my hand than the Lumia 1320 that I have. The battery appears good however she hasn't really used it for a full day i.e. normal usage. It's mainly been on standby at home. That being said, in standby with the WiFi always on, the battery lasted about six days.

Hi,

Does the tablet have Bluetooth version 4.0?

I have a bluetooth device that requires version 4.0 and minimum Android 4.3, but does not run on my 10" Samsung as the Bluetooth version is too old (think it has version 2.0) and also because the screen is 16:10. This Vodafone tablet has a 16:9 ratio if I'm correct and this would make it ideal as it is affordable enough to buy for this specific need.

I had this issue with Cell C a few years back. Wheb I asked for the phone's specs, the sales lady told me to check online. I said that I expect her to know and be able to give me the specs. She claimed that it wasn't her job to know. Gladly I haven't been back to Cell C again.
 
has the tab got a dialer? there is one when you go to the app settings but no icon in the menu?
