Mine matches :) - Did you confirm with Vodacom that you are on a 1gig and not a 500meg ? :shrug

Data Usage

Mine matches too, infact since the latest release of the dashboard, the usage according to the dash, is within 4 or 5MB's of the usage displayed at either www.vodacom4me.co.za or www.vodacomsp.co.za. I think Tazz_Tux is correct, you should check which bundle has been loaded onto your account.

There could also be a problem with the SMS notification - it could be sending out the wrong information? Have you checked your online usage against DU? The dash unfortunately gets wrong readings if seesions are not terminated correctly or if it crashes. Would definately go by what the website says as far as usage goes, and compare that with DU.

Do have any software (besides spyware, and the likes) doing updates in the background like Windows Update, Anti-Virus update, Spyware Software updates, etc? These would also contribute to "unknown" data "crossing" your connection.

I don't think that Vodacom are stealing our data though...

Sounds familiar...

Hiya

The data usage matches, but I've twice had problems with bundles not being loaded. Customer Care swears that the bundle has been loaded (even though the website says otherwise) and sure enough, I get whacked with an extra R700 or whatever for usage over 500MB, and waste frustrating hours trying to get a refund. In my experience there's a communication problem somewhere in the system ...

Cheers
Slak

Won't you PM me you datacard cell number (082 xxxx) and I'll check up what they've done.

Tazz's suggestion that you might have the wrong bundle makes sense.

If you are not on a My meg package, how do you check your usage?

My usage is so low I could not bother to buy a package, and just pay R2 per minute for the little bit that I do use. When the bill arrives, I have nothing to compare it to.

I agree, it would be nice to be able to monitor your usage online without a bundle. I just use it now and again to update my PPC and had to get a 20 meg bundle as I was not sure how much mbytes I use to update the PPC once a day and for e-mail and stuff.

checking data

I know on nokia phones if you look under your call logs, grps counter you can see how much you have used and clear it at the end of every month. That way u can keep track.

Pre-Paid might be a problem (not sure if the itemised billing pre-paid users get includes data or not?), but post paid users can check their usage on www.vodacom4me.co.za. Log in, and click on account info, there are 3 new tabs next to the balances tab from before, one of the tabs is reports, if you view your current itemised billing report (the month you want to view comes in a drop down menu) it will show your calls, SMS's, MMS's and any data that you use 3G or GPRS. There are also options to view current and past invoices & statements, and a call value analysis report that you can view month by month too - as far as I'm aware you do not have to have itemside billing active on your account to make use of these services...

If you have a pop-up blocker active (Firefox or IE) just allow pop-ups for the vodacom4me site, as the billing window will open in a new page/window with the report which you can view on screeen or download in .pdf format, export to Excel and RTF format is supported too.

I have used vodacom4me.co.za with a pre-paid sim card which I have used for data, and it shows data usage very accurately.
Unfortunately i have only managed to view the last 10 transactions through the site although i read somewhere that you sould be able to see further back than that... is this possible for prepaid users?

From what I've seen/heard, pre-paid users can only get their last 10 transactions (as you say) on the 4me website, but I think a call to 111 can get you all the data you are looking for, provided they verify it's your call data that they are going to give out.

Obviously post paid (contract) subscribers have the benefit of having all our records from as far back as one year on the 4me webiste.
