Hi, apologies for not posting this in the BB sub forum but my work web browser is restricting my access to opening certain sub forums.

Basically I want to get a BB on contract and deciding between MTN and Vodacom
I read on here a while back that the speed when using BIS on MTN was upto 3 times faster and there were lots of issues with the Vodacom BIS

Has Vodacom sorted out their issues and is their speed now comparable with MTN?

If a mod needs to move this topic can you do do only after a day as I need to be able to view replies
Thanks!

I am on MTN & have zero problems (prepaid) my 8520 only has edge but the speeds I get is not bad at all. Lots of VC ppl still complain so from my side MTN is still the best.

I'm on MTN and it's fast (you need a 3G berry to take advantage). My average download speed during peak hours is 130 kilobytes/s. If you get the 8520 you have to go with MTN as Vodacom do not offer edge where they offer 3G.

MTN does it for me.
Browsing on edge, download with 3G.
Uberquick most of the time on both counts.

How do u pay for BIS when u on prepaid? Do u have to load the airtime on ur sim and it will get deducted from there? And how do u go about subscribing for it with vodacom? Oh, and how long does it take to get activated? Thanks

*111#, there's an option to purchase it there, R59. Not sure about MTN though.

MTN is actually very simple *141*11# then follow the prompts justmake sure you hae more than R59 loaded. After that you are flying :p

Guys thanks for the replies.
Its a pity about VC being slower
but eventually I went with the
8520 BB on VC as I figured
The weekender 120 off peak min free would be
more cost effective than the MTN R100
Which translated into about 40 min only
(Albeit anytime)
