I installed the current version in June '10, or thereabouts when VC had the browse for free special over weekends. Only updated to the latest one directly from Opera last week. The new one is a pleasure. The VC branding and fixed shortcuts on the start page was very irritating!

What!?! That's just pathetic. Probably so users consume more bandwidth. More greedy corporations driving consumers technologically backwards and deliberately inconveniencing them just to fill their pockets. I was fine with it being branded and this type of false advertising is typical of clueless marketing departments, but disabling features available on the phone you paid for is unacceptable.
