Hi folks
Having a problem installing a Vodafone E220 modem on a Win 7 Pro x64 notebook.
The modem was working fine before client left for the UK. There he bought a Vodafone K3570-z.
To install it, they had to uninstall the E220's software. K3570 worked fine while he was there.
Upon returning he uninstalled the K3570's software, and plugged his E220 back in. Unfortunately he can't tell me precisely what he removed when he cam back.
Everything installs fine except for the "Vodafone Mobile Connect - Huawei 3G Modem" under Modems in Device Manager.
It gives the following error:
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
Under Phone and Modem Options - Modems there is only an entry:
"Modem not properly installed"
When you try to update the driver:
Automatically: "Windows has determined that your driver software for your device is up to date."
Specify: Warns about driver not being signed, then gives Code 31 error.
What I have tried:
- Connected the E220 to another PC which is running Win 7 Pro x64. It installs with no problems.
- Removed all traces of both modems - both drivers and software - from the machine.
- Reinstalled E220 - Problem persists.
- Installed the K3570 - SAME Problem (Code 31)
- Downloaded and updated the newest firmware on the E220 from the Vodacom site.
- Downloaded and installed Vodafone Mobile Connect Ver. 9.4.4.17702 from the Vodafone Site.
- Made sure that Roxio Easy CD-Creator is not installed. Checked for UpperFilters and LowerFilters.
It seems like It might be a Windows problem more than a Vodafone problem since now Both dongles - which work hundreds on other PCs - now both suffer from the Code 31 error.
Can anybody make any useful suggestions as what to do? Been struggling with this for the last two days.
Thanks
