I have set up my new Vodamail address on my laptop, which I use to connect to the Internet from different locations. At home or work using a wireless connection to the internet via an ADSL account, I am unable to send e-mails, using Thunderbird. I can download e-mail from these locations, but not send e-mail.

Is there a solution for this other than a Gmail account ... ?

Normally - with outlook (hence why I hate POP !!) you have to change your SMTP settings EACH time you connect via a different internet connection :S

I recommend getting a decent webmail solution or IMAP :)

The whole point of the exercise, is not to be tied to webmail ... , e-mail clients like Thunderbird, mutt, and yes Outlook, allow you to read mail without a browser, being connected to a server the whole time ... , which is what I want ...

Otherwise, I will have to ditch (junk) my vodamail account ... , is not negotiable ...

GMail is your best option which will work on any connection (ADSL/3G/Neotel, etc.)

Settings use Mozila ThunderBird for VodaMail.co.za

User Name / Default Email adres must be your vodacom fone nr :- 2782 123 4567@vodamail.co.za

Server Name :- pop3.vodamail.co.za ; port = 110
connection security = none
Authentication method = Pasword transmitted insecure (None)

Out going server = smtp.vodamail.co.za
I think the prot should be 25 or 15 but unable to get it verified in ThunderBird

Hope this helps a bit

Best regards

Hi

Are you using a 3G connection ? if so no authentication is needed as your cell number serves as authentication.

If over adsl try using your number 27.... and the vodamail password.
