Voicy does Norway

The urge to sommer jump is scary :o

Wife is a skydiver. She LOVES it.

Me on the other hand... Nope ty. I would probably just get close enough to the ledge so I can get on my stomach and lay down with only my head over the edge :o

:erm: my vertigo is already playing up ...and that's just looking at that photo.

Is that you? If so you have adapted really well. No red nose, wind or cold damaged skin and blood supply to the face looks good. If that was me would have a red nose, pale as a corpse.

I do prefer a cooler climate myself, but I think that would be a just a tad bit over my threshold haha.

Nope it's not him.

I thought he looked very different ... but though maybe the jacket covering big part of his face that is throwing me off. Oh well.

Not that I know what he looks like. I just gathered as much from the below

So it started snowing again. My colleague drove his VW Crafter up to this station on Friday, no snow. Today it had 30cm long ice stalagmites growing off it.

However reading it again, I can be very wrong :D

Haha you punks.

He, oclerouxenater, that's me...right as I got nailed in the face with some ice during the storm. Its my colleague's car, I drove the snowcat up. I had to dig my bakkie out of the snow this eve when I got down.

I was the same :) Locals look at me like I'm nuts, even though it wasn't nearly as cold as I'm sure it is where you need a damn snowcat to get around.

I also struggle with the change in temperature going from the cold outside to the over heated inside. Again, locals seem OK to wear jackets etc indoors, where I have to get my jacket off as soon as I come in. Certain things I guess you just learn to live with over time...

Ugh yeah I overheat in this place. Best feeling sleeping with a window open to get that icy cold air in your lungs while hiding under a duvet.

Voicy...

I'm coming to visit when I go to Europe again. You take me to this cliff ok?

An Australian girl fell off trolltunga this month while taking a selfie. 700m down is a long time to scream.

Thanks for the comments BTW. My fb buddies tell me I'm super lucky and I agree but its not all one big holiday. These views rock but that's because they're on mountain tops where we do installations so it's the tax I pay for the views. Ive slept around 8hrs since Monday but the new backup generator install and scada systems all work like a charm, one of the highlights of the long hours. We can only do full system tests from 1-5am when everyone is asleep. Besides I'd rather post pics of pretty "office views" than bitch about the 300hrs I pull some months. At least it's not the Transkei anymore. :o

+1

I take my wife up there, she'll probably try base jump it :D

Looks amazing

My one mate took up paragliding. Here's one of his videos around our town: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pGdqn3QENI0

Voicy - how easy is it to get around w/ just English near Lofoten?

No issue at all. Lofoten is an absolute tourist hub. Full of american backpackers etc. Its about 50km south of where I live. Gone there a few times for arctic surfing...and ran into another east London dude who coaches surfing there. Small world.

Been a little busy winding down all the office work so I haven't been up and about to post any worthwhile pics, but the temperature has dropped suddenly and severely this last month.

How do you spot a dutchman in the arctic? Still driving a bakkie.

Driving on the snow is actually not an issue at all. You can do 90 without a problem if it's cold. As soon as it gets close to 0C you start getting ice which is CRAZY dangerous. I've slid a few times...and there's moose and reindeer around...also the rain washes these rutts into the road and it's impossible to steer, so when your wheel hits a rut you just kinda go with it...if you touch the break you end up somewhere that isn't the road.

For Ockielerouxenator ... the view from my house.

I took this pic about 2 weeks back at exactly midday from my office window. We won't have direct sunlight again until sometime in Feb...but I'm heading back to SA for a visit next week, so these fools can go suck it!

Oi Voicy have you kicked any chicks in the panty yet?

Northern lights.

The aurora borealis is extremely strong here during winter and although you could see more of it further north, over here it's portrayed pretty great with the stabby mountain range and fjords around it. Going out and filming it at night is one of my favourite things to do. These didn't come out great since I was using my compact digital (Canon Powershot S120) to shoot it with. Got a new 60D but I have NO idea how to use it. :/

Oh my god!! Stunning!!!! You are SO lucky!

Is it true the Aurora makes a very soft hissing noise?

Also driving there, do you use your SA licence?
Heard the driving test is hardcore there, due to all the ice....

Back in the thread he discussed the license requirements he needed to meet before getting a license. and the fee I think he mentioned was R 45k
